"The jewel is in the lotus" meaning that the lotus flower holds itself above the murky water in perfect beauty, and the jewel of knowledge is in behaving in the world as the lotus does. The water is the evil and ignorance of the world, and the disciple is advised to remain of the world but not immersed in the world.

All I can remember is "Om" is a Sanskrit word meaning creator-sustainer-destroyer and is pronounced in three syllables.
