You won't find much until you get into the $150-200 range.

Ok, these guys are forgetting one thing. There are range finders available for about what you're willing to spend, but they're all looking in the wrong place. You won't be able to get a working laser, ultrasonic, or radar rangefinder new for under $100, but what you can get, though it's not quite like the one you're looking at, is a tape measure. They can measure hundreds of feet in some cases, are accurate to 1/32", sometimes more, and never need batteries or diodes.

Unless I misread the specs, that thing only measures out to 60 feet. What good is that??

Check www.midwayusa.com

They sell a Bushnell Yardage Pro 450 for about $150.00

That is as about as cheap as you are going to find a decent range finder.

it won't be a laser, but a golfing range finder can be fairly cheap. just need a little practice at reading them.

Unless you happen on one at a yard sale you probably won't find one that cheap. If your dad will let you try ebay. Ask him if he'll buy it for you with his card and you give him the cash right away

As a Dealer I can tell you that you are wasting your time. For what you can buy with a $40 budget, you would be better off just guessing the yardage. All you will get is Chinese or Russian junk for that price....Seriously.

At that price range, all I can suggest is a 100' tape measure.
