When the 7th seal is opened that means the end of the world is about to start and Jesus will make His return. The silence in heaven is just that, things quieted down because they know what is about to happen. Finish reading Revelation 8

Silence in heaven for Satan is kicked out and the War is then on earth.
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Its called the "hour" of temptation.

2 Pet 3:8 says a day for God is like 1000 years. From that, I'll say that 30 min. is 20 years. This would be the time God prepares humans for the tribulation, the calm before the storm if you prefer.

That wasn't the part that bothers me. It was later when he said an angel took fire from the alter and threw it down to the earth. Like a large mountain of fire.
Then this angel flying in midheaven says: "Woe, woe, woe for those dwelling on the earth."
And there comes more in chaper 9 which is not to good.
