I know the translation is "approssimativamente"...is there an abbreviation for this?

Italian word for "approximately" is "approssimativamente". However we always say "circa" and both have no "official" abbreviations.
As to Roger 21's suggestions "c.a." means instead "to (the kind) attention of" (alla cortese attenzione di) and I've never seen the abbreviation "prx".

What do you mean exactly by abbreviation? In which context should it be used? I have happened to see appross. and approx., even appr. but it may be too ambiguous... I don't think there is a standard abbreviation though.

In Italy we have many sistems..to abbreviate..
** circa...is "abought"...
It is bettar to show you....995gr..it is abought 1 Kg...
** Il peso è 995 grammi ,circa 1 kilo.
** il peso è 995 grammi, (c.a) 1 Kilo
** il peso è 995 grammi (prx) 1 kilo
The last (prx) written everityme with double"(..) " means "proximus" from old latin..
