And why must the maraschino cherries be placed on top of the cookies instead of mixed in with them? Serious answers only please. ;)

Sid Grimm--You sound like one of her true followers--if she stops in here, you can expect lots of cookies from her! LOL (BTW-you need to try black walnuts--they're not bland at all, but very delicious!) Of course, NEVER in a chocolate chip cookie though! :))

Easy! a true cookie lover (and there are non greater than that of Cookie Monster).. knows that the purity.. the gooey, sweet joy of a cookie is all about the rich taste, texture and of course, temperature of the cookie itself.
WALNUTS ...indeed! ? !
Nuts have their place in our lives and that place is in a bowl or in the shell for an ENTIRELY separate kind of enjoyment than that of the COOKIE! Hence, the strong, crunchy, rather bland taste of the walnut has no serious relationship with that of our beloved cookies... not ever.
Now, quite opposite is that of the maraschino cherry.
We literally refer to it as "the cherry on top", a symbol of the "perfect touch", "reaching the TOP", "a flag for our splender!" We know the maraschino cherry as the ultimate gift, the epic of all treats and they must be set on top the cookie and not mixed in to be hidden, to heighten our greed for them, to savor them and ya, I say, to even worship them as the most befitting crown for our gooey, rich, cookie delights!... YuM!

Yes, my dear one. They taste awful. Still I do not begrudge my minions the pleasure of the walnut if they so desire it as I am not a narcissistic deity... *looks in mirror and brushes back long, beautiful hair*, ahem, and I allow them free will in cookie fantasizing. I'll tell you though, girl, a walnut NEAR a cookie automatically ruins that cookie for me. Walnuts are like big hunks of cat meat.
And the maraschino cherries? I promise to try some in my next recipe though it sounds a bit... strange. Pray God you peel them first? I think the imitation cherry flavoring would take from the rich chocolate aroma and ruin the gustatory sensation. Oh, and I place them on top because I like to pop the cherries myself rather than someone else poppin' 'em and throw them into my cookie dough! Do you know how many diseases are transferred that way?? It's no fun when someone pops the cherry first before you have a chance to explore its delicious, enticing flavors on your own. Everyone wants that first shiver of excitement!
LOL! (((Beano)))
(((Eagle Woman))) She's right, too. :-) I got so involved in the pro-cherry-popping debate I hardly even remembered that point!
Ooh, Branded! A man (or woman, or cat, or beast, or lampshade) after my own heart! Brilliant, my friend!

Beano, Have you been roaming again? I thought I heard you say that you were going to give up that addiction. I know that it is a difficult stronghold to break, but I will support you.
Now about those cookies; I think that Cookie Monster is just trying to be different from his friends. Bert loves walnuts and Ernie likes his cherries chopped up and mixed in. God made us all unique with different tastes.
Have a blessed cookie dough day

I don't think it's spiritual... I think it's just that Cookie Monster never had a mother to tell him to try new things, so he just sticks with the same thing all the time.
I have a cousin that will hardly eat ANYTHING and is VERY hesitant to try new things. His mother never forced him to eat anything he didn't like either.
So Cookie Monster is just hesitant to try new things, and if anyone suggested (and was pushy) for him to try maybe a DIFFERNT type of cookie, he might actually try it...

I don't think she has any teeth, that is why she doesn't partake in walnuts. As for the maraschino cheeries I don't know.
Have you ever noticed that the cookie monsters voice is that of a man?

From what I understand, Cookie is pretty much done with nuts. Of course, she reserves the option to change her mind.

and is this one of those questions that are used in comparison to God, because i've seen people say "....the same reason you don't believe in tooth fairy, santa clauses, cookie monster, etc."
if it isn't, weird, but fun question
if it is, -_-
