Every state, province, and country has thier own rules of the actual allowed blade length that can be carried by anyone..
As well,if the knife is in a pocket it can be deemed a 'hidden weapon'.
I always wear my pocket/utility knives on a sheath/pouch that can be seen.
Keep in mind ,please, that most schools see all and any forms of a weapon to be a threat.

I couldn't work out whether you're in the US or in the UK. In the UK you are allowed to carry a 3 inch or less blade knife, as long as if stopped by the police you don't say "for self defence." A blade which is more than 3 inches is classed as an offensive weapon and subsequently you would be arrested UNLESS you could provide a legitimate reason for carrying it. For example, if you were carrying a long knife in your pocket, down an alley way at 3am in the morning, you'd probably be arrested. However, if you were carrying a blade, wearing a white chefs hat looking like Antony Worrall Thompson along with other knives, the situation would be a whole lot different, and there would most likely be no suspicion! Mind you, I'd stop him because he's probs nicked them from Tesco - but thats a different story Hope this helps. Neil

Possession of a Swiss Army knife is not punishable under the law unless it is used to commit a crime.

Here in the UK there are consuquences for using it malisously, firstly you will probably get you an ASBO, then a day trip to Chessington and plus a free PS2. Sad but true in this crazy country lately.
But you being a decent and sensible lad will keep it out of eyesight, and only use it for chopping down that stinging nettle that got you.

Happy chopping!

Yes it is legal, just use common sense about where you bring it. Not to school or sporting events etc.
