It is a social control tactic That is the kind of thing cults do to retain their influence. Most think outsiders will poison you against the group (cult).

God doesn't preach to the choir. Hopefully any that think that they speak for God don't either. The ones that need the salvation are the ones that are not in the fold and need the most help. It is much easier to huddle like a flock of sheep than to embrace and pacify the wolf.

Its called control, also abuse, which both involve isolation, I don't find any place in the bible that justifies it, very classic make sure the person has no other friends or family outside of the group so if they choose to leave they will be alone with no one to help them. Where is the love?

Um not sure where you got your information, but it is a good bit off dear, sorry.
No one says we can't have non Witness friends, though the Bible does warn about being careful who we choose as friends.

you are figuring it all out. You are smart. In that group it is all about control. I have a friend who was an elder and grew up in it and his father who literally was a Nazi, would not talk to him for 10 years... examine their actions if not their doctrine.
It can't be the way of Jesus. He said love one another.
I wanted to date a girl in high school but she couldn't. I know what you are talking about.
Your only decision is pay the price and leave now or if you are too young do what you want and count the cost because they will cut you off.
How evil...

for me it's extremely cruel. Since i don't get along with most witnesses. Don't get me started on how cruel dating can be, since you are supposed to date "only in the lord". The few witness friends i have don't want to socialize with me, so i have to say I'm going to the meetings and studying my watchtower publications.

We must guard our association. Look at what happened to Lot's family. They lived in the district near Sodom and yet how many in his household died because of the bad influence of the people they lived near... and his two daughters who did escape were so warped by false teachings and practices that they thought it okay to get their father drunk and have sex with him.
Witnesses don't want to look back like Lot's wife and lose their life. We want to stay close to Jehovah God and his organization...

The bible does say do not be yoked with unbeleivers. But it is a form of control in this sense. God is refering to be influenced by unbelievers and falling in your faith.

Just as I would not 'hang out' with people who do not share my standars (like drugies and drunks) I could see that those who are as staunch in their beliefs as the JW's would not want to pal around with those who have taken an opposing view to what they once shared in the form of a belief system.
Do you yourself, refuse to hang around with crackheads? Could not your logic be applied to say that you are cruel for doing so?
