In Lake County, IL they have a system of parking squad/patrol cars in random areas to deter speeders thinking there is a cop there. Some go as far as to have little cameras peeking out of every window and the interior has curtains covering the inside of the car. My question is what is going on with the cameras? Are they some kind of live feed and if so shouldn't that be public information of what is happening there? If so, where would I go to find out?

Use of cameras is a valid exercise of the police power of the state in order to curb violations of traffice rules.

They probably have cameras for safety reasons in case someone who's been stopped resists. They use it to document & prove in court what took place. Just a guess.

The cameras are in the car because stupid people like to break into cop cars when they see that no one is around them and haven't been around them for hours. They just do because they have nothing better to do with their life. It is just another bait car.
