I got 2 letters from the same place. Both times I got a check enclosed which looked 100% real. If you take it to your bank this is what WILL happen: they will cash it. You will get this money. You will be instructed to mail a portion of this money to someone to get your winnings. You will be so happy for a week or two. Maybe go out and buy somethings with your new found money. OK, here is the best part. You soon get a letter in the mail from your bank that you cashed the check out telling you that the check was bogus, and you now must pay back the bank for the amount of the check you received, plus lucky you get to also pay the bank fees for this. Oh, did you remember that the real money that you mailed out to get your free money is gone to a scam artist forever. You will be out a lotta cash. But if this is what you want go and cash the check. Have fun!! Be warned!!

What you have there is probably a fake check. Are they asking you to deposit it in your account and send a processing fee to collect your big prize. Presently, there are a lot of scams out there regarding these type of schemes. You may want to check out fakecheck.com. If you didn't enter the lottery that it is a scam. To be exact a Check fraud scheme. These scams look very official looking with logos and so forth. Check with your bank or police.

What you SHOULD do is take the check to the local authorities so it can be investigated properly. Of COURSE it's a scam. The check is worthless, and will be guaranteed to bounce. Meanwhile, these crooks will ask you to send money to process the remainder of your "winnings". You will send them money you will NEVER see again, and all you will have for your efforts is an uncollectible check.

Please DON'T reply. There was a story around here recently in NY where people were getting something similar and this "scheme" where THEY were suppsosed to be GETTING money wound up costing many their life savings. Run for the hills. Turn the letter over to the Attorney General in your state.
