Where do you believe love comes from?" Have you ever wondered how it is you have the strong emotion of Love?
This would be more than meets the eye...
The love of children, Honesty, truth.. Love for humankind, animals, the earth...
Love for long suffering...
And yes love of your husband or wife... How would you openly explain, NO, "define love." And how it was embeded in your heart?

"People can have sex because they want to, they need no love to do it..." That happens all the time... Sex and love come either seperate or together... In other words just because "mom and dad uh um, loved eachother doesn't mean a thing..."

EDIT: Yes I strongly believe in GOD... This was posted because I have always wondered how someone who lacks faith feels about love...
Make it clear I have a strong faith...

When I see these hooks I think I might learn something BUT it always results in sentimental crap at best and downright stupidity at worst.
Love is just an emotion - just like Envy, Jealousy, Anger, Anxiety, Fear, Depression, Grief, Guilt, Hate, Hurt, Loneliness, Regret, Self-pity, Shyness and Worry.
Contrary to what most fundies say Hate is not the opposite of Love - FEAR is.
When I see a fundie write Hate I know they mean FEAR.
Love is no more than an attachment to something whether it be Parents, Spouse, Children, Heroin, Booze or Cars.
Psychologically Love is dangerous as it can set you up for all sortsa painful experiences that are based on nothing more than some electrical activity in your head associated with Desire.
Invisible old men in the sky don't exist and prayers don't work - it's why so many innocent children die.
Epicurus: Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. If God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?
Stephen Roberts: I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

Love is just one of the many human emotions that can make someone feel good.
This is what I know.
Your mom and dad had sex out of love. Thats it. We know nothing more than that. You developed into a child with the same emotions as everyone else (depending on whether or not you have some kind of disability)., then a teenager, and then you will become an adult. (hopefully)
The Divine may very well be the source of everything in existence, but there is nothing to prove that....or disprove it. Its a matter of doing what makes you feel good, and if you believe God made everything, cool...but realize you could be wrong.
Blessed Be

It is really simple and does not require supernatural intervention. Because of the long gestation period of a human and the fact that that a human baby is not able to fend for itself for many years we as humans have developed the kind of bond that many other creatures have. Love is NOT just a human emotion. Many species mate for life. If you want to believe in something other than humans do by all means! However don't ask me to have FAITH. I have faith that gravity works because Newton explained it, I cannot have faith in something which by its very nature cannot be proved. Read Richard Dawkins book The God Delusion it explains the web of deceit that underpins all religions much better than I can. Be proud to be human!!!!!!

oh I agree but it is not that I dont believe in god as the principle from which all that emerges
it is a god as a person like how most interpret the bible that I dont believe in
to me it is more from God which The master known as Jesus taught as being in each individual that The love of children, Honesty, truth.. Love for humankind, animals, the earth... Love for long suffering...etc comes from

Great question!
Love is a very human emotion. It binds us together so that we help each other. Our love for our spouses help us bond together and raise our children. Our love for our children keeps us from killing the little buggers when they smear grape jelly on the new sofa. (j/k just a little bit) Our love for our extended family keeps us in groups where we can cooperate and find a lot more strength than we have as individuals.
Love is a result of the evolution of the human species.
But love in not uniquely human. You can see it in other species that have to nurture their young. Mammals tend to display loving behavior. You don't tend to see "loving" behavior in species that do not nurture their young (fish, reptiles, amphibians).
I think that love is even more important to humans than to a lot of other species. Humans without the ability to love would not have survived because humans do not have the physical attributes to compete in a wild world. We do have a big complex brain and the best way to take advantage of that attribute is to live in cooperative groups where we can help each other and plan for ourselves.
Love is natural. Love is part of being human.

Love is an emotion just like being sad or angry which dogs also feel. If "god" existed why would he give us the same emotions as all the other animals?

You would never accept it. You want to know, all I can tell you is that no one knows, we can describe mechanisms and sometimes make use of them but we don't "know" anything. Putting God in place of this ignorance is giving up.
Edit: There are good descriptions of this "love" mechanism above. Their language is more objective, you must throw out the wishy washy stuff to understand. There are still things that we will never know. The things which we do understand we understand in a limited sense. We are matter understanding matter.
'We are how the universe better understands itself'

Love is the wonder and care you feel for your real fellow human being. People are real being you can interact with, gods are imaginary non communicating phantasy's. Love is between real person's between reel feelings. Be good be nice.

So when you tell your children, spouse or parents that you love them are you saying that you are having a chemical reaction in your brain? NICE
GOD is LOVE and weather or not you believe in him or accept him He is the only reason you are capable of LOVE!

Love is a feeling of affinity that our nervous system can hold. Your question is a form of the fallacy "asserting the consequent".
