then why isn't it OK for people come up to you out of the blue and ask things like.....

do you have a smoke detector....or
make sure you have condoms....or
did you have 5 fruits and veggies today....or
have you been to your Gyn this year?

It's because they know it's none of their business. Why is it their business to know if I'm "saved" or not?

I'm an Atheist....so you're right I'm not saved.....but I'm also not rude.....and to me that's a rude question.

Like I said....it's my business.

It's also ok to laugh in the face of the asker, don't forget.

I live in Mississippi, where it's a daily occurence.

I laugh.

I guess it is rude... but I guess I would ask it in certain situations... as in to identify another believer... for instance im debating something with someone... and I have an impression of him being a Christian, however what he is saying is completely against the Christian beliefs... so, to know whether I could ed the discussion with Biblical statements I would ask it... I don't think it's necessarily inappropriate or appropriate... I just think that there are situations in which it is ok to ask... However, If I was asked whether I was saved at any time of the day I would use it to either strengthen my faith, strengthen the asker's faith, or to profess my faith to an unbeliever. I believe that signs are God's way to speak to you and I'd definitely use it as an opportunity to witness... So... at this moment, if this was a one-on-one talk I would most certainly ask, "Are you saved?" or perhaps something along the lines of, "Are you a Christian?" or "Do you believe in the Bible?" Take into account I wouldn't ask these at a supermarket but since we are having this conversation I would deem it appropriate... But i suppose everyone's different....

Because nobody cares if you have a smoke detector or condoms or if you went to the gym, but people want to no if your saved because they care. If you don't appreciate that, then just tell them your not interested in what they have to say and move on. We as Christians believe we are doing a good thing by trying to share what we have, all we want is for everybody to be able to share in the joy we have acquired.GOD BLESS!!

Because all of the other things on your list do not pertain to eternal life.

You may not need a smoke detector, but if you have one when you need it then it may save your life, you wouldn't be here if your parents hadn't decided to have you, and eating fruits and vegetables and seeing the doctor regularly may increase your life span....

but once it's over, then there will be no more chances to hear someone ask you a question that may have changed where you are going to spend eternity, but you will consider all the times you heard it then.

Why are you so sensitive about it? Usually people who aren't saved react this way. That's my experience.
