It has 5.0 with AOD Trans ( not AODE ) I have replaced both Trans and converter with same issues. Could it be in the TV Cable.

Shuddering sounds like timing... problem to me... I'd get a timing light on it.. maybe new plugs are in order/or wires? also check Vacuum lines are all hooked up?!

mine did it because of a problem with the harmonic balancer so check that out too

try to look at the pulleyes and ther timing belt.
