My friend has a molar that is really bothering him. It is his adult tooth and the tooth is broken and part of the filling has come out. He can not afford to see a dentist as they have to have consult and x-rays and that doesn't even include pulling it. He is pretty sure it just needs to come out.Thinks it's an open nerve.

This is not a good idea. Find a dental school in your area and have him go there to have the tooth pulled. They will be cheaper than seeing a private dentist because the dental students will be doing the procedure under the supervision of a dentist. It is very important that he does have the tooth taken out because the nerve of the tooth is infected and that is why he is in so much pain. If he has any antibiotics left over from being sick then he should start to take them because it will clear up the infection so he will not be in so much pain. That kind of infection is not good for his body so he needs to do something to clear up the infection. Good Luck and I hope that he feels better soon.

If he takes it out theres a possibility of getting an infection which in the end will cost way more than having it removed professionally. Have him visit a dentist that accepts monthly payments if not if he lives somewhere in southern california have him pay a visit to a dentist in Tijuana, same job way cheaper

Actually it isn't a good idea. Sometimes part of them break off or there will be bleeding that may be difficult to stop. It was done a great in the old days but people got sick then too. Just to be safe go to the dentist. They may not charge much just to pull it.
