Food generally slows the absorption of alcohol into your body, but it doesn't neutralize what is already in your blood system. The food just keeps the alcohol in your stomach longer and then natural enzymes in the stomach neutralize (metabolize?) the alcohol in the stomach before it even gets to your liver to be processed.

There isn't anything special about cheese, and eating isn't going to make you not drunk if you are already drunk. It can lessen the effects of alcohol on your body vs. eating on an empty stomach. You should still be very careful when drinking, though.

Some people's response to alcohol varies from others as we are all unique and our genetics are different. It may be that you are drinking a lot of alcohol very quickly, or mixing your alcohol, or drinking on an empty stomach or a mixture of both. To aid your recovery, on returning home try to rehydrate yourself with a glass of lemonade with a tiny pinch of table salt. It tastes a little gross but it does work. Leading up to a big drinking session try to take a milk thistle or artichoke supplement as this aids the metabolism of alcohol and supports the liver. Also if this keeps occurring and you notice that your urine is darkening, your stools (poo) are getting lighter in colour or your skin appears yellowed (jaundice) get to a doctor asap as it suggests your liver is struggling.

No. Once alcohol has been absorbed into your blood stream only your liver can neutralize it now. Depending on several factors (the amount consumed, your gender, age, weight and over all heath etc.) this can take some time.

I'm not sure but I think bread will help. And unfortunately while on antibiotics I found that the intoxication associated with alcohol is greatly decreased depending on what you drink.
