GREAT question! Goes to the core of truth in Religion vs. Spirituality.
Those self chosen "Leaders" of Religion need control and
you can not CONTROL a "Flock" of individuals. You need "Sheeple" to form a flock.
Of interest is God LOVES the individual and encourages individual growth. God created each of us PERFECTLY and INDIVIDUALLY. Just as Spirit loves us UN-conditionally we are encouraged to grow as an individual and SHARE our knowledge and experiences UN-conditionally in gestures of
random acts of kindness.
As we grow, we are to set the example for others to follow, just as the MAN Jesus and the WOMAN Mary.
If individualism is a sin then why are there so many Religions / ways to honor Faith in a Higher Source?
If it a TRUE "Sin" then only ONE book, ONE "God" and ONE method of worship would prevail.
THE greatest gift we have been given is the gift of CHOICE.
The gift to CHOOSE, as an individual , our Spiritual path and method of Honoring our Faith in a Higher Source and our connection to THE Great Spirit as an INDIVIDUAL.
THE greatest "Sin" is to judge others, that is Gods job!

As a proud Christian and owner of a few piercings, I can say that it IS a form of individualism. I just honestly can't tell you if it's a sin or not. I can only say that in the Bible, it says that your body is a temple to God.

What architect or engineer would design and build a marvelous building only to let it be covered in graffiti and eventually destroyed? This is why it's not good to smoke, drink, do drugs, or even become obese because this is harmful to the good body God gave you.

Yes, Jesus drank wine. BUT did He get drunk and POISON or RUIN His good body?? No, He did not.

And I CAN say that we are made in His image. When God used the word "image" in the Bible, He didn't mean looking exactly like Him. It's meant like "in the form of" sorta.

Lemme 'splain:

Kinda like how when I say the word "hamburger", a picture of a hamburger may come into your mind. Just because I picture my hamburger with pickles, and you picture yours without lettuce, that doesn't mean that both of the pictures in our heads aren't hamburgers.

AND God DID give us free will. We're not puppets! Every morning I CHOOSE to get up for school because I know that I can't get an education without it no matter how much I hate it.

Lemme 'splain again:

If you were drowning in a pool, and the lifeguard throws you a lifesaver, would you grab on to it? = If you were a sinner and Jesus said, "take my hand, and I'll love you and save you from Hell" would you take his hand???

Tattoo's are not individualism. Where did you get the idea?

Individualism is about doing your own thing because YOU want to and because you really don't care what others think.

Getting a tattoo, you care what others think because, more then likely, you won't be able to even see it.

Playing the guitar to make money is not individualism, but playing the guitar because you absolutely love music is.

Besides, in a universe where we all stem from, being an individual IS simply an illusion, much like your tattoo is. If we all came from the Earth OR the universe, then we are OF it and you cannot escape that

All religions teach the same thing: "believe as I do or you will be worse off". If you think about it, it is cognitive discrimination, which is quite contradictory towards individualism.

Here is an example from the bible:
If god gave us free will, he would have never killed the first born children of Egypt. They exercised their right to free will by turning their backs on God. Yet they were punished for it. Either we do not have free will or God does not exist. The bible seems to point to the latter.

This is a good question, worthy of thoughtful replies as opposed to flippant ones.

"Individualism" is not a sin. In fact, the Founding Fathers (Christians themselves) placed great importance on the individual.

Pride is a sin--not the healthy pride of good self-esteem and knowing that you are precious in God's sight, but the false pride of vanity and arrogance.

These are the false gods, that God commands us to reject. Not Allah. Not Krishna. All the false gods, made by human hands--vanity, arrogance, love of money, lust, hedonism...the list goes on.

Do as you like and don't worry about what others think. It says in 1 corinthians that long hair on a man is a disgrace. Do they not show Jesus with long hair? Go figure

"I'll Do It My Way".
We are limited by our natures to what we can conceive of, desire, and choose. Therefore, what we can accomplish is strictly limited by what we are...
We are not free to conceive of anything possible.
We are not free to desire anything possible since not all things can be concevied of.
We are not free to choose that which we cannot desire.
We are not free to accomplish that which we cannot desire.
Therefore, Free Will requires at least that a person be able to conceive, desire, and choose. True free will is that which is in accordance with one’s nature. To choose to accomplish something beyond one’s nature is not an exercise of free will but a declaration of a person’s lack of freedom — in that area.

I do not propose that it is; indeed, I consider it to be a virtue. That does not mean that I approve of body modifications; one can be quite individual just by clothes and actions.

You miss the point:

1Cr 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1Cr 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
