Yes he did. But Jonah couldn't hear him because his network was back on the boat trying to figure out where he went. Ever notice you never see those Verizon commercials with the networks inside? That's because they never actually go with you... they just stand around where you SHOULD be. So, Jonah was actually without service!

Yes, and when Jonah yelled to the guy that he was stuck in a whale and to come save him, the guy said, "There's one in every crowd," and hung up.

Food can take days to digest. Look at chewing gum. takes two full years for it to dissolve completely in our stomach acid. Secondly The bible specifically says god prepared a fish to swallow him. No further details are given but for all we know he could have made it so that wasn't too much of an issue though I seriously doubt it because Jonah compares being in the belly of the fish to being in Hell.

The time Jonah spent inside the whale is symbolic of the time Jesus spend in death.
Jesus went into death, the place known as the bosom of Abraham and preached to those who were being held in death.
These are they who were deemed righteous by God, those who believed in the promise of salvation, the Son of God. They were still held in death though because there are two things needed for a man to be saved. Those who were deemed righteous fulfilled verse nine, but could not fulfill verse ten until after Jesus defeated death by living a sinless life and being put in death.
And he set the captives free. Praise God.
Romans 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

No, because when the whale swallowed Jonah, he swallowed Jonah's network, too. :)

Yeah, and Jonah said "Damn! It didn't work!" That guy would drive anyone to hide inside a whale.
