The answer is as much as they find in college scholarships that match their profile. Since you are a junior in high school, you can start your college scholarship search. The main thing is to keep your grades up, volunteer, and participate in school activities/clubs because there is scholarship money for them. However, most scholarships listed on the web are nationwide in nature. The best approach is utilizing several different approaches to locate tuition money for college. I will include several different free approaches to locate college tuition money.

First, fill out the FAFSA form in your senior year. It will qualify you for need based help (depending on your EFC score) including the Pell Grant, work study, need based scholarships from the college endowment fund, and student loans. It is based on a percentage formula of your income and savings (at a higher rate) along with your parents' income and savings. In addition, your family size along with how many in college will influence it. This should be completed in January, early February, or by the earliest financial aid deadline. This needs to be completed every year until you graduate from college.

Second, your high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships and state grant programs. Typically, these are the easiest to get compared to national ones.

Third, the local public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Fourth, the U.S. News and World Reports has their annual college admission issue out. It is jam packed full of great information on almost anything. It is well worth the price.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. You enter a profile with them, and they will search for scholarships matching your profile. There is a scholarship for everything including wearing duct tape to the senior prom.

Good luck!

If you are just looking online you are not going to get anything. Scholarships require some work to receive, and they have special requirements. It is a matter of how much effort you put, and how many scholarships you do. I recommend focusing on a lot of small scholarships, as opposed to one or two big ones.

As much as they are willing to work for. There are thousands of dollars in academic funding out there that go undistributed, it is just a matter of tracking down opportunities and filling out apps. Good Luck!
