I just saw this invitation as I was looking online last night:

A polka-dot wedding could look very classy, as long as you don't overdo it. I would recommend going with black and white instead of purple and white. It would give your wedding a bit of a romantic 1940's feel (and, as you said, it would also be easier to find).
I do agree that you should wear a traditional white wedding dress (with an optional sash). Your bridesmaids could wear black dresses with white polka-dots (and plenty of red lipstick). You could have your groomsmen wear 40's-style fedoras.
Incorporate a bit of polka-dot into your decor. (Charger plates? ribbons on the centerpieces? napkins?) Just be careful not to get carried away.

I'm doing a polka dot wedding as well, it's hot pink polka dots and white along with a little pale pink. I think that it's adorable and i found THE cutest site ever!
And probably everyone that thinks the polka dot wedding is stupid, they're probably all old. It's a very young idea...go with it! And plus you're kids will think you're the coolest instead of some old fart. :-)

Nice idea, and would be fun. Do any other colour except black and white.
I like the idea of polka dot cupcakes that another bride was planning on here. Maybe try a search at the top of the page.

My sister just got married last weekend and she had a polka dot wedding (she loves ladybugs). It was beautiful and suprisingly elegant!! Just go easy on the dots and balance it with solids to make them stand out. She wore red with white dots, there were some table decorations that were black with white dots, and the cake was white with black dots. Everyone else in the wedding party wore solid black with red accessories and it was really, really gorgeous! Hope that helps. Congrats & best of luck :)

I love it!!
www.myjeanm.com has really cool invites that have polka dots. They are so so cute! They also have favors and stuff that might have dots.
Sorry I don't have a picture or website, but I saw a picture in a bridal magazine that had polka dot and striped ribbon in the centerpieces! The ribbon was woven in and out of the flowers. It was subtle but totally showed the theme. You could also get dotted napkins.

Polka Dots can get overwhelming so I would recommend not having too many colors. You could even do solid black and white and use dots for decorations. That could be cool too.
Congrats & good luck

Yes, if the polka dots are on the cake and favors it would be really cute. And the dots should be really small and spaced far apart, so the pattern is not overbearing. I wouldnt recommend any polka dots for the bridesmaids dresses or your dress, though.

I almost went with pink with black polka dots.
I think that black and white is really classy.
This website has polka dots in lots of colors, however:

Do what YOU and your fiance want to do...its YOUR day. But just remember that in 20 years it might not seem so cute to have polka dot wedding pictures over your mantle. But having said that...walk to the beat of your own drum and if y'all are cool with it then go for it. Have a happy day!!

I think that the polka dots would be cute!! You could do like, your traditional white dress, but then you could have like a satin sash around your waist line that is white and purple polka dotted!! or something like that =P
But black and white is always a great classic too. Stick with something that is both you and your fiance =)
