There was something that happened with a group of people that started dieing off randomly, same ethnic group, and the only sign was that they had gone through physical struggle in their sleep. Surviviors said something about a malevelent spirit invading their dreams... This is history, not something I dreamed up.

no dreams cant kill you. however, there are reports that a number of asian men die while asleep. i heard its on the diet in east asia. only men and only in asia. its weird.

Yeah, people can allow demons into their life through sin. If people don't address certain issues in their life, it can allow demons to torment them at night. Demons can inspire dreams and enter dreams and play out a person's demise through dreams, because dreams come from the spirit realm. And, sometimes demons can take your life while sleeping. I have experienced before where demons would choke me while I was sleeping.
