sorry i know this must be a retarted question to most of you,

but do the british armed forces, force service (like the us draft once did) or is it on a basis where people join like the us is currently?

NOT ANY MORE,WE ENLIST OF OUR OWN FREE WILL,WE USED TO HAVE WHAT WAS CALLED NATIONAL SERVICE WHICH WAS FOR A 2 YEAR PERIOD BUT I THINK THE LAST TIME IT WAS USED WAS IN THE LATE 50S

Currently no conscription is being imposed on the people of Great Britain, but almost all modern militaries have a policy that will activate civilian "drafting" and enable the nation to defend itself in times of dire need. Our ally South Korea, however, still has a mandatory service of 2 years for every adult male.

(God Bless them) are volunteers.

No, but a lot of other countries around the world do...they called it the draft here, but in other countries it's also called conscription.
