Atheists are a huge amorphous group of people with many beliefs. They are not organised, there are no rituals to being atheist. Atheists have one thing in common - they do not believe in gods. There are religions such as Buddhism that are atheist in that they don't believe in gods but they are still spiritual. Atheists find no evidence for gods nor any need for gods but apart from that they can and do believe in a multitude of things.

I believe you are condescending. I and just about any atheist I know have more character in terms of honesty that any so-called xian. I practice law for a living. Hands down the times I get screwed by a client is when they tell me they are "good xian people." I hear that now and I make sure to get a BIG retainer before taking the case.

Anything that I can see, hear, smell, touch or taste. Anything that reputable people have asserted can be seen, heard, etc. Regarding faith, I have a small amount of faith in humanity's ability to change the world for the better but that faith may well be misplaced.

The idea that atheist believe in nothing is a fallacy that is taught by the church.

Here's something that Atheists believe in :

"It is important to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do and not because some eye-in-the-sky is watching you"

How's that ?

That depends on what you mean by believe. Most religious people consider a belief something spiritual or religious. I believe in moral behavior, caring for your fellow man, putting your family first, doing what you can to make other's lives better, education, being a good citizen, not breaking laws, being mature and responsible, being a teacher and a doer of good things, respect, and love.

The believe-in list would fill a dictionary.

The don't believe-in list is quite short. Anything supernatural.

I believe it's part of human nature to be inclined to believe things that don't make sense but which we wish were true, or fear might be true. One such thing is the existence of gods.

Well that would be a long list. Basically everything that there is evidence for. I don't really think that the whole of scientific knowledge would fit in this little white box.

I believe it is simplistic wishful thinking to take all of the wonders and unsolved mysteries of the entire Universe and attribute it all to one single deity.
