There is always a possiblity of a third world war. In my opinion I think that it will most likely start somewhere in the Middle East.

By who depends upon the circumstances. I don't think the USA will strike Iran without provocation, I don't think even Bush is that stupid, but I have been wrong before. If the we did strike Iran without UN approval there would be the chance that Iran would strike back. Maybe not at the mainland US, but most likely our allies in Europe or the most likely target Israel.

If Iran did attack Israel all hell would break lose. Israel is always ready to defend itself and would launch immediate attacks back toward Iran. Of course this would probably anger many of the Islamic nations of the Middle East and draw them into a conflict. At that point you can bet the USA would be sending its Carrier fleets towards the Med and the B-52's and B-2 bombers would be receiving their arms.

The war would be localized unless for some reason the Russia or China got involved. Then there would be much bigger problems. If they got involved against the USA it would mean an all World War 3. While I don't think nuclear weapons would be used, tactical nukes might. Certain areas would be hit but nothing like an all out strike. That would gain the nation who launched the first set anything.

Of course I think a third world war would be much more destructive than the second. Precision strikes would be used, but old fasion blow everything up like the raid on German and Japanese cities in WWII would be more common. Would eliminate having to send troops in if there is nothing to send them into.

Just hope to god this never happens

It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk World War.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars, sabre rattling and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask if there's a possibility of WW3, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

its un likely that we will encounter a world war any time soon. i believe many people underestimate how grand a WORLD war is. it will take some verry powerful countries invading some other very powerful countries (for the sake of territorial gain) and commiting massive acts of genoside or something of that sort... and no that is not what America is doing now. we are not in iraq for territorial gain or anything of the sort. although our motivations may be economic related (like all wars ultimately are) we are not an imperialistic nation.

im both previous wars there were people who truly had dreams of world domination. these people also had significant technilogical abilities (which the middle eastern nations do not)

the threat of MAD (mutually assured destruction) still exists by means of atomic warfare as well. and there is no nation that would go to war if it meant their entire country being reduced to a crater.

it makes me sick that so many people have so little faith in their own country that they believe it will be the cause of a world war. this is all a result of the hippie movement in the 60s during viet nam... they ruined american values and this country. they were ignorant then and their ideas are ignorant now.

please excuse my ranting... im by no means a supporter of war, but i do love my country.

The possibility is always there the likely hood not. The current situation is Turkey is looking at a northern Iraq invasion, Russia is now building up Iran as to counter the past and current aggressive acts of the United States, the new missile defense shield and the longevity and possible permanent middle east bases in Iraq. So who is going to start it, more then likely it will be a Bush when they get reelected in 10 more years as the American public as a whole has a very limited attention span.

Why the answer has alway been $$$$$$$$$

protection is relative - in case you reside in a foul community you need to get killed, in case you reside in a good community you need to get killed yet with decrease risk than in case you reside in a foul community. no you will see the destiny yet as already spoke of the international is changing with economics particularly than territory being the main significant concerns of maximum international places. The terrorists will lose interior the tip (who is conscious while which would be) via fact tyrants and murderers consistently lose. The Clock toArmageddonn basically moved returned by utilising a million minute - from 5 until eventually destructionn to 6 minutes until eventually destruction. it relatively is a good element. I very much doubt that WWIII will take place. too a lot has replaced via fact that WWII interior the international community for it to take place. i might relax straightforward approximately finished destruction yet proceed to be vigilant against terrorists.

According to a 2005 congressional study, the USA sells 36% of the worlds arms, some independent studies put that at up to 60%.

Clearly, the USA is in the forefront of conflict and war based on the above and our two wars, plus the propensity for going to war again in the near future.

Our country has a vested interest in conflicts, finger pointing, hate and war.

The war will start small, then develope into a regional conflict of higher proportions with other countries involved, then one of the other big guys will get pizzzzed off and launch, then poof, Armageddon brought to you, in part, by religious zealots who's selfish dreams and holy scriptures brings us the rapture.

I'm not religious, but they say its written, I say it's BS

When it comes to war, conflicts, accusations, follow the money.

Ah that's the problem right there- if anyone could guess how it would be started, then it would be prevented. WWIII will be started by something completely out of the blue, from someone that nobody was paying attention to.

If you look at the conditions prior to WWI and WWII, you will see that the world powers are gearing up for it right now. They are gearing up for it due to the horrible foreign policies of our current administration. An attack on Iran could be the trigger. That would be apt to incite Russia and China because of the oil. I seriously doubt either would side with the U.S.
