I was 17 when I finished school and in my opinion, unless you can get a really good fake ID, unless you are 18- I wouldnt attend schoolies. Most of the events and clubs 18 year olds go to 17 year olds cant attend.
They do have some awesome beach parties most night in Surfer Paradise though and they are all age.

There are party co-ordinaters who walk around Surfer's selling party packs and such.

Schoolies is for school leavers so most are around 17 or 18. There are school leavers from all over the country on the Gold Coast, even Tasmanians. Anyone can go but if you intend to drink alcohol you will need ID to say you are over 18. I presume, but do not know, that you buy the wrist bands for party entry.

Not living on the Gold Coast, I dont really know how you would go about getting wrist bands and party packs etc.

I would suggest that kids of highschool leaver age to be roughly 16-20yrs old.

I think anyone much older than this would be considered a "toolie".

I dont think it would matter where you came from...be it Tas, SA, or even WA. If you are of the appropriate age and holidaying in the local vicinity at the appropriate time etc...then I think you'll be fine!

Hope you enjoy your holiday...wherever you end up!
Congrats on finishing school!

Cheers :)

I hope these two sites give you the answers you're after.
I hope you have fun and, yes, we even let Tasmanians into Queensland. :-)

isn't is a shame that they no longer have the schoolies cruises ,my daughter went to the final one ever and she or he became into in basic terms 17 ,I felt she became into plenty safer there than the Gold Coast ,or maybe however she ought to no longer drink alcohol she ought to nevertheless socialise with all her acquaintances and it became into all very risk-free, in spite of the fact which you do be careful and function a good time ,bear in mind no longer all human beings has your superb pastime at coronary heart you are the only individual who can fairly preserve your self.
