No, because then I think we Christians would find an excuse to be even bigger jerks about whatever sins aren't 'our brand' of sinning. Just look at how people treat homosexuality --- as though it's so much worse than your garden variety fornication. It is a *terrible* sin. But so is any sexual sin --- it's the physical version of idolatry!
Also, the sins that are 'socially acceptable' --- pride, envy, gluttony, etc, need to be paid more attention to, not less. Wouldn't it be so awesome if churches preached more about *pride* --- the sin from which all other sins stem, in my opinion, than about drinking, smoking, dancing, (and only one of those is even fairly definitely a sin, and only from the 'your body is a temple verse!).
I think we as Christians already rate sins --- and usually the sins that get the worst ratings are the ones that gross us out the most and/or the ones we don't happen to be tempted by. How sad! I think the worst sins committed are the ones *I* commit, you know?

And then we'd post them. Get thumbs up and thumbs down. Pick Best Sins. And some of us would make the list of Top Ten Sinners.
I wonder if imacatholic2 would still be on top. Might be. Catholics have a lot of practice in defining, discerning, and detailing sins (due to their practice of confession). Plus, I could do the same things and they wouldn't even make my posts because I wouldn't have considered them sins.
Then again, I'd probably list some that wouldn't fall into the traditional definition. For example, my son was talking about "Thnks fr th Mmrs" and I thought he meant "Thanks for the Memories". That's at least a 7 on the sin of being an old fart.

1 Timothy 1:9-11 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

9We also know that law[a] is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
Here we see that ALL sins are equal in God's eyes. just as lying is as bad as murder.
The is no sin that is worse than any other..

No, because Jesus came to forgive us of all sins. Why rate them when that is not the most important thing? We typically rate the sins that harm people the highest but all sin separates us from God.

All sins are bad in that they chase away God's spirit. But each sin has it's natural consequences and some are not as easy to fix.

Nope. There is no ranking list and I for one am glad. There is none righteous, no not one. For all have sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard.
We are all equal in the eyes of God. I think it is wonderful.
Then when we learn that God will gladly declare us righteous if we accept what Jesus did for us! Amazing love!

Not sure that would be beneficial to society or not. I suppose it could cause people to be more singled out. Sins are sins, nobody wants to compete for them.

Well, if your'e christian, these "rating scales" wont matter because no matter how many sins you commit, you would be "saved by jesus" in the end.
