There are many types of passes. Google BTS skytrain in Bangkok. The official company website should have some info on it. Or try this site:
http://www.bangkok-city.com/skytrain.htm
It should give you the info you need.
THERE IS a subway system in BKK! It does not cover the whole city but it works quite well in conjunction with the skytrain routes.

There are a few types of passes available. Single day pass, 3-day pass and also recharge pass. If you there for long term, the recharge pass will be convenient.
There is an underground train system too. Goes to places the Skytrain do not anyway. You can use both with interchanges at Silom, Asoke and Jatujak. Have fun, faster than road traffic for sure.

There are a few different plans, but the best plan for a tourist is the 120 baht one day pass that gives you unlimited sky train use for one day, but unless you use the skytrain more than 4 or 5 times during the day it may be a little cheaper just to pay as you go. There definitely is a beautiful, modern subway here that opened about two years ago, I use it almost everyday, right now there is only one line and it does link with the skytrain in a few locations. Here's the skytrain website and a skytrain-subway map:

For the skytrain there are 9 different passes, depending on how much you plan on traveling on the skytrain, it can range from a BTS Smartpass which is good for 5 years and is re-chargable for 100 baht. There are day passes for unlimited trips for 120 baht for ONE day. And there are single trip passes depending on where you are going.
There are 2 lines that try to cover the city and the subway, yes there is one, helps cover other parts of the city.

The above link has the different passes and a fare calculator for the skytrain
The MRTA Subway there are passes also. Station to station token and a 200 baht rechargeable pass. 50 baht deposit refundable. Not sure about an expiration date. I have had one for a couple years and it is still usable.

This is the fare calculator for the subway.

The above is a link to a map of both the Skytrain and subway system in Bangkok with stations.
Good luck.

Dont really know what you meenby pass, but there are 2 lines with a change over at Central. Thats the sky train called the BTS
The MTS underground connects with the BTS in a couple of places (Na Dang is one, Asoke is another) but you have to exit the MTS, to the street, and climb steps or an elevater to the BTS

I believe everything should be clear before Dec5 (our King's birthday). If the BKK airport can be opened, it is safe surely. Honestly, the situation is not really bad. Anywhere in Bangkok excluding the mobs is safe. Don't worry.
