dinosaurs of this length actually had more than 1 brain!sometimes there was 1(possibly more) midway in the spinal column. some also had booster hearts at various places.
when you go Dino hunting I Would suggest you take a friend & try for simultanious hip & shoulder shots on one side with explosive 20mm or the new 25mm shells. this should keep your dino on the ground while you walk or drive around putting numerous finishing shots in various places(stay out of range of the tail its their primary weapon) be sure & wear rubber hip boots as there will be a considerable amount of blood when you field dress it. also keep an eye out for preditors they will be much faster than your dino & be attracted to the smell of hundreds of gallons of blood.
as with any game try to make a quick humain kill (it may take several hours to finish it off if your first 20 or 30 shots are not placed correctly)
good hunting & save me a few hundred pounds of the back strap.

A neck shot with a 2-bore should really screw it up, if not kill it outright. Shooting it with a .50BMG would probably require a brain-shot, which would be hard with something with the head the size of a Volkswagen, and a brain the size of a walnut. Armor Piercing Incendiary rounds would be advisable in order to maximize penetration and spread the wound channel out as far as possible. An XM109 25mm Payload Rifle may also work, so long as Armor Piercing Incendiary rounds are used here, as well, in order to maximize nervous system damage from a headshot. Other than that, you might be able to get enough penetration to hit the brain or centeral nervous system using a Polish Kb ppanc wz.35, British Boys Anti-tank Rifle, or another WWII anti-tank rifle.

If you're really serious, though, you should look into obtaining a Carl Gustaf M3 antitank recoiless rocket or a few M136 AT4. They should enable you to penetrate the chest cavity and do enough vital damage to take one of these beasts down. It'd ruin about 200-300 lbs of meat, but on something that big I don't know that you'd notice.

The only shoulder fired weapons I can think of that might have a chance to drop a brontosaurus would be a bazooka (3" model) or a 20 mm Anti-tank rifle, such as a Solothurm M-1939, or a Lahti M-1941.

With the 20 mm rifles, I'd try to take out both front legs with knee shots, and then try to break the neck.

For a big predator, I'd want the bazooka and nothing less.

Hmmm. That looks like a really big Brontosaurus. Those were vegetarians. I'd just stay out of their way, but if I had to hunt one, say for food (to feed the entire North American Continent!) I'd try for a neck shot with at least a .600 Nitro Express. A .700 would be even better but a .600 would probably do the job. Its all speculation since dinosaurs are extinct, anyway.

Best.

Now I'm all for sportsmanship, but I think a more fair matchup would be hunting with a grenade launcher.A Barrett or similar .50 rifle could do it with perfect shot placement. For a small arm to kill that,I'm gonna have to say the only thing short of suicide is a Punt Gun re-engineered for smokeless powder sabots the size of coffee cans containing steel shot as big as a baseball.I'd only do this with a few of my buddies hiding nearby with some GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannons.

if it has to be a rifle then the only one I know that could possibly take down that trophy room behemoth would be the GAU-8. Commonly found on the A-10 Warthog. Now if you could find a single shot rifle and the man willing to stand behind the butt of that gun when that .7 lbs of propellant ignites launching that .67 lb projectile you might be able to take it down.

No, Dinosaurs existed in the Pre-Adamic Age before God had made Adam and Eve. Yes, there was a civilization in which Lucifer reigned to which and when he also had His fall and rebellion against Almighty God..Satan just took on the form of a Serpent in order to deceive Eve in which he was successful in doing so, bring down the human race until God sent Jesus to win back mankind. Those who come to Christ Jesus, are given supreme power and authority over the devil for He is created as a Angel but people are created in the very Image and likeness of Almighty God himself...We are not in the same class as Angels, we are above them in creation..The devil though, is still deceiving mankind to reject Christ..

M-107 Barrett .50 cal. semi-auto with API (armor piercing Incendiary) ammo. Go for head shots. I bet you could take it down with 1 5-10 round mag... If you're talking about a man-portable rifle, this is king...

We'll never know, of course, but some mighty big crocs have been dispatched with miniature-bore brain shots. Should the opportunity ever arise to try, a la Jurassic Park, I'll let you go first in trying, though.

How about a MK 19 shooting a HE 40mm round to the head right between the eyes..... I bet that would drop the big red dino!! :)

The HE round penetrates 2 inches of steel like it was butter..... bye bye dino!!
