Someone just made god up so why do we need to have a lack of evidence to say it doesn't exist.

The FSM doesn't exist.

There are mountains of evidence to say it does but it doesn't.

God has even less evidence than the FSM.

but then we have conflicting arguements here
I have had experiences that have led me to believe that God does exist ( although who , what etc I dont know )
so it is difficult for someone who believes in God to agree with this kind of statement
I dont agree with what you are saying about the evidence of the FSM ( all hail his mighty noodliness ) being greater than the evidence of God.... we have thousands of years , many millions of personal experiences that say otherwise
but for someone who doesnt believe , who has had nothing to make them believe .... then it is understandable why they would feel this way and see things as you do
this question is not going to be won by any side any time soon sho... it is always going to be a case of he said she said

Make believe things exist as thoughts in your mind (i.e. the FSM.) To prove to others that thoughts in your mind are the result of real things, you would need evidence.

No -- but I would need some evidence to be persuaded that it DOES exist. But you have taken the name of the FSM in vain! And He will smite you with His noodly appendage! Beware!

It seems your assumption is that most people would not be able to tell the difference. Dismissing such a gross generalization out right requires very little evidence or effort to do.

If you must deny effects have a cause which correspond to it's claims and are contingent it's requirements, and prefer a belief system who main tenet cannot be proven, and which lacks no transecedent objective authority for it's assurance of superior morality,l i would say the reason you cannot find God and Jesus is the same reason a theif cannot find a police station.

Logic says it doesn't exist, but people need to believe something. Except for atheists.

Funny how if you made something up...I wouldn't feel an urge to prove you wrong.. I would simply think it obvious.
