I have been giving my 2-year-old chewable multi-vitamins just to get him through the seasonal change...from warm to cold weather since that when most people get sick. Is that ok or do you think it will mess with his immune system too bad. Another other parents out there tried it? Or have an opinion on it?

*He has his 24 month check-up at the doctors next week so I'll ask his pediatrician then too.*

The kids vitamin bottles say right on the package that you can start them on vitamins at 2. Double check with your doc, but I think you're fine. :)

As long as the vitamin is intended for kids his age. Obviously he should not be getting an adult dose of anything. If it's a children's vitamin in should be fine, although some pediatricians prefer you do not give them a vitamin with extra iron unless they are anemic.

In ref. to flouride it should not be given unless your water is unflouradated. If you have flouridated water and give flouride too much flouride can be harmful.

Two year olds can have such finicky and picky stages of what foods they eat so sometimes it just makes you feel a little better when they have a multivitamin. And of course eating healthy should continue, sounds like your doing fine with that. I always give our kids their vitamins with a meal so they are more easily absorbed. Our doctor recommended that.

If the vitamin has extra iron then sometimes constipation can follow. Just one thing to be aware of.

But be sure and double check with your DR. as they know your child, his medical history and will give you the best advice. Don't forget you can always call the office and they will be happy to answer your questions, even if they have a nurse check with the doctor and call you back. That is what they are there for and it helps to get their advice even between visits.

If you give him the dose that's appropriate for his age/ weight (sometimes it's just a half vitamin at that age) it should be fine. Mention it to the pediatrician at your child's next checkup. But don't expect it to keep him from getting a cold. If you're really worried about sickness, just wash your son's hands a lot. It's cheaper and far more effective (especially since he's already eating a healthy diet).

Vitamin tablets are too strong for such a young kid, too much can be fatal or at the very least cause major health issues, and "experts" allegedly claim that consuming vitamin C has no effect on your immune system, though your body does use more vitamin C when you are unwell.

Feed him well and he'll be fine. Lots of fruit and veg.

As long as the Biotin tablets do not have any of the same vitamins as the one a day, it should be fine. Biotin is also known as B7. I also have sensitive skin. I have found that I touch my face a lot during the day without even realizing it and that contributes to my breakouts.

Yes, as long as it is for kids, it's probably all right...I mean, if you look on the back of Flinstones vitamins, they say for years 1 and 2, don't they? But yes, it's probably best to check with your pediatrician.

I did it with my kids. It doesn't hurt anything. They have vitamin drops for infants dear!

Best thing is to talk to the pediatrician anyway, but it shouldn't mess with his immune system

My daughter's pediatrician told me to give her liquid multi-vitamins everyday. Vitamins are good as long as your giving the regular dose, not too much. Good job, mom!

You should not give either medicines or vitamins to small children without checking with a doctor first. The vitamins are probably useless, and medicines may be harmful.
