I find that many atheists are former christians or were raised as such. Like me I don't know of other religions I just don't accept christianity or its god concept.

My life is actually funny. I was raised as a Roman catholic for 12 years of my life. When i turned 13 i was a satanist. And now i am 14 and i am an atheist. As i gave more logical thinking to the concet of supernatural being i understood that we, homo sapiens are rejecting science. I don't believe in a god or the concept of a creator. The reason we are atheist is because we accept science and reallity. The reason we accept science is because there are tons of evidence for evolution and all the other scientific things.
I reject all religions and their concept of god. All this religion is not doing any good to the world, only thing they do is killing and hate crimes.

I think that Atheism comes from many different religions. I know many Jews who have turned atheist, as well as Christians, and Hindus, and people who were never raised on religion and were left to research and decide on their own what path they would like to choose to follow.

And as for someones comment about you being a non-Christian instead of an atheist...I disagree. If you no longer believe in god, your an atheist, period!

“Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other "sins" are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself is not sinful - just stupid).” Robert A. Heinlein (American science-fiction Writer, 1907-1988) -If one argues, as some deeply religious individuals do, that without God there can be no ultimate right and wrong - namely that God determines for us what is right and wrong - one can then ask the question: What is God decreed that rape and murder were morally acceptable ? Would that make them so ? While some might answer yes, I think most believers would say no, God would not make such a decree. But why not ? Presumably because God would have some *reason* for not making such a decree. Again, presumably this is because *reason* suggests that rape and murder are not morally acceptable. But if God would have to appeal to *reason*, then why not eliminate the middleman entirely ?- Lawrence Krauss, A Universe From Nothing, Pgs 171-172.

I am a former xian. that religion d*** near put me in the asylum. After years of study, I realized what a fraud it truly is. I reject xianity and I am on the fence about a creator. I think there is a force more powerful than man, whether it can think comprehend, and create is another question. Since all religion is nothing but the mere claims of men, I reject all forms of religion.

Then technically you are not an atheist. You are a non-Christian.

I'm sorry to break it to you my friend.

Get a bit more experience with the other god concepts and when you can say none of them exist you can be dubbed an atheist.

Edit: To illustrate my point. Do you believe that Krishna exists? To that you can only answer "I don't know" making you at most an agnostic.

I reject all religions. Anytime you have a mob willing to be led strictly by faith, you're asking for trouble. Additionally the whole God concept is just plain silly. We might as well turn to astrologers for guidance.
