It seems that many of those who claim to be ex-atheists (excluding Pangel) never had any exposure to religion beforehand.

Is religion for them like their first dong and they fall in love with the stud that it is attached to?

Hmm. Except that virginity is a state - deplorable though it is.

Most who claim to be converted from atheism never were - they were simply in neutral.

Though there *are* women like that...

No exposure to other religions?
Raised in a Methodist home
Became agnostic as a young adult and studied many religions.
Found Judaism after having raised a family without any religion. My only regret is that I didn't find it much sooner.

Heh. I laughed when you mentioned Pangel- I knew she'd respond fast and witty.

I've never pondered this before, since I was forced to attend church but did not believe, ever.

I have a couple of friends who are mainstream type pastors (Lutheran and Methodist). I'll have to ask them if they've ever encountered this.

as funny and entertaining your way of phrasing this question is... I would have to say that a number of people are probably the opposite, turned off by religion and convert to atheist because of negative experiences.
So, in a sense, you could liken them to the haggard old wifey that wont give it up.

Once you have been subjected to--& seen through the falseness & tribalism of organized religion--it's impossible to put that aside & again become a theist.

Ex-virgin? Sounds good to me.

Btw, I know a lot of ex-virgins and some even claim to once have been a virgin. But I doubt that.

Now you've got me thinking of baptism as your first money shot in the face. I'm going to have to go home and wash my head out with soap.

Possibly...I really do not know. I was the other way around. I was a big time Christian then I went atheist....

I'd imagine so. I fell in love with my first dong... he wasn't so into mine.

no such thing as an ex-atheist.

Once you are an atheist you can not switch sides.
