Anyone know how I can prove to my local authorities that I've been trained in Pistol marksmanship and safety. Is there a Form (DD) that I can print proving what I say is true?

I'm currently active duty and my home state of South Carolina requires 8 hours of training before they'll issue me the permit, but I've been trained by DOD

Unless they agree to accept the military curriculum it's a mute point.

First. Do a Google search on "Legally Armed Veteran". Spend the $5 and get licensed in 28 states like I did. Second. Pay the couple bucks for a civilian class. It is better than what they taught us in the military. I was in for 10 years and was still impressed with the instruction I received from a civilian establishment. Third. Your DD 214 is blanket proof that you have received many many hours of firearms training.

Depends on if South Carolina requires that you attend a certified Conceal Carry course.

Other than that, talk to the 1SG, he should be able to pencil whip a weapon qualification record for you.

I am having a problem believing that ANYONE on active duty would post such a question here. Are you really that unaware of where that record is???

Do me a favor and ask your squad leader where your 201 is. He needs a laugh and the knowledge that E-5 is far away for you.

Your military training, will not substitute when it comes to a consealed carry permit.

You will have to attend a class, like everyone else.
