Okay, all, this isnt about significant other love, this is about family love. I'm 17 years old, and as far as I can remember, I have always felt this way. My parents love me, and they always tell me and it makes me feel REALLY awkward to say it back. I am able to do this with my girlfriends easily..like open up, but I'm ENTIRELY afraid of family love. FOr instance, if my dad kisses me on the head i kinda feel uncomfortable, same with my mom. I also dont like it when my sisters say the same thing (my brother doesnt do it..yay)...i just dont like it. I cant tell them this, I just want to know if anybody else feels this way or can help me out a bit?
thanks

You need to tell yourself that your family is very important to you. Your parents raised you lovingly to the state you are now. You need to get over the negativity of not feeling good when they kiss and hug you. To them you are their world. You must learn to return their love likewise with affection. If you are honest with yourself tell them how you feel about them.

It's normal, a lot of teenagers are like you, espically boys.

Just remember, affection is good, but actions speak much louder then words.

I know, its hard to open up, but they will really appreciate if u show it as you have never before. When you go to bed say, 'nite mum love you' as your wlking into ur room, that way u dnt really have to face her. u dnt have to say those words but something like, oh thanks you do so much 4 me, or i really appreciate it. and with girlfriends, they love sesitive guys, and saying you love them makes them feel special. my gf loves the fact i am open bout my feelings.

if you really love them, try writing it.
less awkward. mother's or father's day card. sign it with love or even
"I love you!" --carrie or whatever your name is.

start putting it in a text or emails.

you will grow out of this awkward stage but for now try doing it indirectly like in writing or even on the phone.

my parents, my brother, and I have always told each other and shown each other that we love them. my kids also will tell us they love us, but don't always hug. just don't wait so long to say it or show it that it's too late. no one lives forever.

if they really love you and you love them back, no words are needed.

you have to say it to show them that you love them--imagine one day one of them dies and youll live with that fact that you never told them i love you -- that wil suck
