Ok lol im 15 as well... i smoke XD its one of thos awkward moments when u get caught for some reason... but NO ONE has died from weed... cigarettes r wayyyyyy worse... so is alcohol and stuff like that. See i HAVE done research and tried to find why its illegal but i have not found it other then you cant tax it. Ok tell them no one has ever died cause of it it grows naturally (unless laced or chemicals r put in it) like in i forgot how many states its nearly legal completely its legal in some states to be put out in medical uses now days... its NOT a gateway drug cause i know a lot of people say that but its all in your head... just dont piss them off with this that could be bad THEN take your **** light it up and say ''wanna hit this **** my *****!?!?!'' XD but good luck HAPPY SMOKING!

WOW- some of the answers you have gotten are so OUT there, its pretty sad.
Let me start off by saying, you are young, and by NO means am i saying that it is okay to smoke Weed, Acually at 16, you should be worrying about finishing high school, and not about hiding your weed.
My parents have always been very open with me and my siblings, they have smoked for as long as I can remember. When I turned 18 (which is the legal age to smoke), my parents sat me down and offered me some weed. I thought it was strange, but they figured, if I was going to smoke, at least I would be doing it at home, and I would be safe. AND IN NO WAY ARE MY PARENTS IDIOTS! Both have been smoking since they were 14 yrs. old!
If you are taking care of you buisness, In and out of school, Keeping good grades, working, or whatever the case may be, I say sit down with your parents, and tell them why you smoke. In recent studies, there has been NO reports of overdose by weed. EVERY other drug you can overdose on. However, you have to make sure that you are being responisable about it! Try to talk to your parents. Pull up information on weed..There is a lot of websites these days!
I hope it all works out for you!

there is no such thing as a "responsible user" of a controlled substance. You see, in order to be responsible, you have to be responsible enought to not break the law. Pot is called a gateway drug for a reason. It does lead the way into harder and harder drug use. I know, I know, it will never happen to you. Right. I grew up in the 60's when pot was everywhere. People I knew then, started on pot. Most of them are dead from drug overdoses because they moved on to harder stuff. The ones who did stay with pot, are fried, don't believe for a minute that pot doesn't destroy braincells, because I could show you a thousand examples of people who thought the same way and are now barely functioning idiots. They can't hold an intelligent conversation, with very very few exceptions, they hold down loser jobs like flipping burgers or boxing groceries for low pay, live at home with mom and dad, or on the street and are in a constant stage of panic worrying about getting caught, or where to buy more pot etc. Not to mention that pot costs so much it takes up all their cash. So, no new car, no nice house, poor clothing etc. A very large percentage of them never even finished high school before they dropped out. The word "LOSER" doesn't begin to describe most of them. And, you should also know that smoking pot really does cause lung cancer, throat and mouth cancer as well. If you haven't seen someone you love die a horrible, painful wasting death like that caused by cancer, you can't fully grasp what horror it really is.
Please do yourself and your family a big favor, give up the pot now. Don't chance going to prison, frying your brain, or being DEAD just so you can put that poison into your body.

Hi,
I know you don't want to hear this and half the people on answers will disagree but I'll tell you the same thing I told mine.
Smoking "weed", "pot", "marijuana", however you want to refer to it is AGAINST THE LAW.
Unless, and at 16 I doubt it, you DO NOT LIVE with your parents in their home, you have no right to bring an illegal substance into their house. Or anywhere on their property.
If you are willing to be put in foster care or juvenille detention when the law does catch you, smoking off their property is fine. Just don't expect them to bail you out if you're caught.
Once you are legally responsible for yourself, you have every right to destroy your life in anyway you see fit. Until that time you, whether you want to accept it or not, have a responsibility to be concerned for someone else, namely your parents.
Unfortunately for you, they love and care about you, they don't want to see you mess up your life.
What you won't understand until you are ready to be responsible is that WEED isn't Bad, but unfortunately it is still ILLEGAL.
The problem is they don't feel they can say weed isn't bad, because they are afraid you will take that as permission to use. And it's not legal.
I told mine, as long as you wait till you're 18 and out of my house to screw up your life, you can do as you choose.
As long as you live with us I would appreciate you caring enough about my mental health and love for you to avoid being arrested, which means doing nothing illegal.
If you want to write to your senator, congressmen, the president, lobby to get the laws changed, I'll support the effort.
But I do not want you telling me while living in my house, that you don't value your life or your future as much as I do.
Now I realize you are 16, and I'm just an old f**t, and I wish for your sake and your parents, that my effort will make a difference, but sadly I'm sure it won't. As far as talking to them, you probably need to stay calm, let them finish scolding you, then start the conversation. They need to get the scolding out of the way, then they may be open to conversation. Just don't expect them to give you permission to potentially mess up your life.

You can not change the facts. Weed is bad for you and you should not be smoking it. End of.
If you don't know the effects of it, then i suggest you look it up.
If you smoke it every other day, and you have been doing so over a long period of time, then you are addicted and need help soon.
Later on in life the full extent of being addicted to weed at such a young age will hit you hard and you will live to regret it.
If you parents let you, then they are very irresponsible and social services need to be informed.
Give up now while you still can. The longer you let it go unnoticed, the worse it's going to be and the harder it will be to do anything about.
I can assure you, years down the line, if you live that long, you will regret this.

Why not inform your parents that weed is not going to kill you, it's not as bad as being addicted to a life threatening drug. Why not just sit down with them, let them know how you feel. I do have to warn you about the long term use of weed. I have several friends who have been smoking weed since they were about your age and are now in their 30's and 40's. It does eat away at your brain cells. I'm not knocking the drug, I am just warning you that you may want to cut back due to that fact.

Smoking pot is illegal and they do not want you to have to pay with a criminal record the rest of your life. Most good jobs will require both a background check and a drug test. They know this and don't want you to have the problems associated with a criminal record.
I agree that it is not that big of a deal, but it is against the law. I smoked when I was in high school, mainly because everybody else did. If I could go back I wouldn't do it again.

Sorry, but "responsible," "user," and "weed" are three words that don't go together. Smoking every other day is taking up way too much of your time, attention, money and brain cells. All the brain cells that you're frying right now do not, repeat, do not, grow back. Take it from one who knows plenty of pathetic old stoners who are in their 30s and 40s now, who were once 16 like you and thought it was no big deal. They have no ambition, are not successful, and are depressed and shiftless. Presumably you want more out of life than that. Good luck!

whats with all the negative comments?
if he really wants this type of comments from idiots like you, he would have listened to his naive parents already.
smoking has its advantages and disadvantages.
1st, your parents have no right to lecture you since they do not listen to you or at friends level with you. F**K them.
2nd, tell them your reason for smoking.
3rd, you do not have to listen to ppl who asks or force you to quit if your reason is a strong and good one that you believed in.

Thats a hard one. I hear people say that weed is not that bad. I felt that way when I was younger but to be honest with you, you should'nt be smoking it. It really is no way to get them to understand. I'm not here to judge though.
