Immigrants' rights activists are suing the Otero County Sheriff's Department over the arrest of nearly 30 undocumented immigrants in Chaparral last month, officials with the groups Border Network for Human Rights and Paso Del Norte Civil Rights Project said.
The groups said they would file the lawsuit in Las Cruces before noon Wednesday.

"This is done on behalf of community members," said Fernando Garcia, executive director of the Border Network for Human Rights. "We hope it brings attention to the kind of enforcement happening in Chaparral."

Garcia wouldn't give more details about the lawsuit but said a press conference would take place Wednesday.

Several human rights groups have been gathering testimony from Chaparral residents in the past few weeks and found that some said that Sheriff's deputies used trickery to get into their houses and ask about their immigration statuses. Immigrants' rights advocates said immigration enforcement should be left to federal agencies.

Officials with the Otero County Sheriff's Department have denied they targeted immigrants during their operation, which was funded by federal money under the program Operation Stonegarden.

We are a nation of laws, That's all I've heard from anti's since I have been on YA. What they mean is we are a Nation of laws that favor White concept of the law.. A policeman needs a Search warrant to enter and search your home, a person has a right to an attorney if you are interrogated by police, There are laws that disqualify a case if police use Entrapment and local law enforcement agencies can not form their own immigration laws..The community has a right to sue law enforcement if they break the laws, that they are hired to enforce. Now let the Court decide if their actions were wrong.
Isn't that the right way a Nation Of laws would react?

Why does our media insist on putting the "spin" on everything they print?
Instead of writing "Several human rights groups have been gathering testimony" They should print the truth which is

Anti- law enforcement groups have been seeking individuals that would be willing to testify that Sheriffs Deputies...."

That is what is really happening here.
The Border Network for Human Rights sounds good but has nothing to do with human rights and everything to do with aiding and abetting those that thumb their nose at our laws.

Who is Fernando Garcia and who cares what he says? I certainly don't.

We need to stop the liberal media from printing this crap that makes law enforcement look like villians. They are not violating human rights they are enforcing the law.
It is not now or has it ever been a human right to break the law

Once again this is about illegals having little or no respect for our laws, but when the feel their rights being violated them and their enablers cry bloody murder. Andy Sipowicz had a line in one of his episode when the pert asked if it okay for the cops to lie, Andy said, not only is it okay it's mandatory. Many keep saying that it's a federal job to enforce immigration law, they only say that because they know the funding and manpower is limited at best, and most illegals will never come in contact with the feds.

Whatever is needed to prevent illegal immigrants from staying on U.S. soil should be done. I believe that every time a person is stopped by any law enforcement for any legal matter, here in the border lands, they law should be able to asked those persons about their legal status. It has been said by the government that El Paso is the hub of drug and human trafficking, that includes the border towns in New Mexico.

I say all States should target illegals, quicker than the government. Oklahoma has did it, their Governor, if they can do it, so can other states. Why is it that a lot of people think the Government should step in and wipe their nose every time they sneeze. You think we have a bad problem now, if Hillary wins, the illegals here will seem small amounts compared to what is going to happen later. When the ex President Vicente Fox endorses a person for President, that means the illegal flood gates are going to be open by that person, and we have not saw anything yet. I know some states are giving illegals a drivers license, means they will be voting for the person that will give them all amnesty, and with a drivers license, they will vote. Vote no Hillary or Richardson Fox is over here trying to tell us how to run our government regarding illegals, and Hillary hired LaRaza President to work in her campaign, think there is not going to be millions of illegals voting, illegal votes, wrong there will be as she has planned already. I would bet there are millions of brand new voters registrations right now.

Call it whatever you want, it just get down to what people do and don't want to do. We have alot of problems because of these free speech, human rights, and other groups that think they are out saving the United States of all the people and problems taking place. That's the problem here in the states, both the government and these groups need to clean our house before they go out trying to resolve problems that have been committed against the United States.

EVERY TIME somebody here illegally gets deported there is some kind of protest.
Now all the citizens who want to CONTROL immigration are called RACIST and all the cops who ENFORCE CURRENT LAW are CRIMINALS.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!???
Give me a break !!!Theyare only trying to intimidate the police from enforcing the law.
THEY DIDN'T CARE WHAT THE U.S. LAW WAS WHEN THEY SNUCK OVER HERE!!!
Now they want everyone else to stick to the letter of the law.
