My husband and I've had five ceremonies.
Two in his religion (Shia Muslim), one at home and one at a mosque;
one in his Father's mosque (Sunni Muslim);
and two civil (non-religious) ceremonies.
So we're married in the eyes on his religion, and legally to satisfy me.

The same way as anyone, but the Bible says not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. There will be conflict and tension throughout the marriage and either the believer will get away from God to ease the tension or the atheist will come to believe, or it's probably going to end in disaster. You can't, as an atheist or a believer, be so closely linked with someone who doesn't believe in your fundamental truth. To the atheist, why would they marry a believer, one who wastes time worshiping a non-existent thing? For the believer, how can you go against God's word and marry someone who doesn't believe in the thing you, at the very least SHOULD, hold most sacred? It's a recipe for disaster, but it happens.

My husband was agnostic, not atheist when we married, and I was a non-religious theist (though I was leaning towards Christianity). We were married in the backyard that belonged to an elderly lady my sister used to care for, by the same pastor that married my sister and her husband. It was perfect.
Of course, neither of us were big on the idea of being married in a church.
I would imagine that any two people of opposite beliefs who want to make their marriage work would try to compromise.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, the "ceremony" could be a civil one in a court, or it could be held in the believers church or synaguoge, etc.
If you mean, "Why" would they get married, it is said that love is blind meaning one often overlooks the differences and/or lackings of the other in many regards until the honeymoon begins to wear thin. After that, no fault or lack is over looked.
ma'a salaam.

They would get married the same way everyone else does--by a judge or by a minister, whichever they want. Not every couple that has a big church wedding is buying into it; many do it because their families want it.
Atheists do not have horns and tails. They act pretty much like other people.

it works fine for me
we respect each other
we got married in a registry office but it was a beautiful building , lovely architecture and had a churchy feel
so it suited both of our needs
the registrar( justice of the peace ) gave a beautiful reading and it felt very spiritual ... although not religious
and that was just fine by me

A believer would never marry
an athiest because it is
forbidden in the Bible, which
says, "DO NOT be unequally
yoked together with unbelievers."

They can marry?! We need a constitutional amendment to ban that! Marriage should be between one Christian and one Christiess.

the bible says you should be equally yoked. i wouldnt dare marry someone who didnt think like me- thats a divorce waiting to happen if your christianity matters at all to you. some people are just the title and could care less about the bible and what is says so it depends on what kind of christian you are.
