If you really want a good purebred dog then you're going to have to go through a reputable breeder . A reputable breeder makes sure that the dogs they breed have a good temperamet, are free of genetic problems and are as healthy as possible. Dogs aren't cheap and they aren't just a toy your kids play with for a little while and abandon. They will become PART of the family. You will have to pay for their Food, Grooming ,Health Care and Extras such a toys, leash, collar ect. Much like you would your own children. It is best to know exactly what you are getting into before you jump into the Dog World.

If you get a cheap puppy you are going to get a poorly bred one that is likely to have all sorts of expensive problems to pay for. In the end you are going to end up spending more on your initially cheap puppy than you would have if you had spent the money to get a well bred one. These are both larger breeds (90+ for the bloodhound and 150+ for the mastiff) which makes them more expensive to feed, medicate ect than smaller dogs. You need to consider all the expense overall that goes into getting a dog before you buy one.

There's no such thing as a "cheap" dog—especially when you're talking about a large breed!
If you think purchasing a dog from a reputable breeder is expensive, just wait until you see the food bill for a large dog! Vet bills, toys, collars, leashes, bowls, beds, obedience training, and—sorry to say—replacement of furniture, shoes, etc. that was chewed on by the teething pup.... all add up to major expenses.
If you must have that large pure-breed, try the rescue groups. Each breed has it's own rescue organization.

You get what you pay for. Get a "cheap" puppy and you're going to get one that has been poorly bred and will have a lifetime of health issues so it will end up costing you a lot more over the life of the dog than if you plan carefully now and pay a little more for a quality bred puppy.

personally i think that you should think about investing in a good healthy puppy. the cheap ones are usually the ones that the breeder has had trouble selling because of behavioral, health problems etc...if you cannot afford an expensive puppy then you should be thinking this over because it doesnt just finnish by buying the pup, you also have to get the food and the toys and beds and vetenary care etc...

Large breed dogs have shorter life spans and a lot of genetic health issues like hip dysplasia, etc... in fact, any puppy is going to require a commitment to providing proper health care. So make sure you can afford all those expenses before you get a dog. Trust me it will be easie than explaining to your kids why you had to euthanize the dog when you can't afford to care for it.

If you want a cheap dog, rescue one from a shelter.
Since you want a cheap dog, are you ready to take on the financial responsibility of caring for it?

Cheap means poor quality. Triple that $400 & you will find a decent dog.

If you find one, you are going to get what you pay for!!! Either of these breeds that will be cheap are going to be poorly bred and likely have health issues GALORE!!!!!!
Get a breed you can afford.
