I checked into it before. The easiest way would be to go as a student (that requires a visa) and after two years apply for permanent residence status. As far as going there to work, you have to have an employer beforehand that will hire you and THEY get your visa. Be aware that any time spent in Canada illegally does NOT count towards obtaining citizenship.

None, just tell them your coming from the states for political reasons, the make you a "refugee" house, cloth, and feed you for at least a year before your case comes up, Cool huh?
