cmhelp1, sounds like some pastors I've met but it could also be a criticism of those that doubt the Bible's teachings.

Uh, yeah.

"The heart is deceitful above all things."

If you don't have any "checks and balances" as it were, you are capable of interpeting things willy-nilly just to suit your own conscious or subconscious desire. That never bodes well.

The nature of the question says No. A Pastor is a job title and many words can be written of the job discription. If you like the person it helps. If you do not, well why bother? A Church is nothing more than a social gathering of like minded people. Everyone is an individule and everyone has a differnt point of view. The common denominator is the presentation of Biblical interpitations. Thats where the word Preacher comes to play. What truth does one seek?

A Pastor=A Shepherd. Any
Pastor that is CALLED (key
word) to stand in front of a
congregation is called to love
the sheep,protect the sheep,
teach the sheep, provide for the sheep, and even lay down his life for the sheep, if need be.
A pastor is a great and high
calling and there are too many
men that should not be preaching in the pulpet.
A Pastor teaches only the
Word..and not his own ideas.
He does not promote his political agenda, nor does he
try to build his own empire,
nor does he use his position
to become rich.
The Holy Spirit has already
marked the Pastors that are
wolves who are devouring
His sheep, and these pastors
will be held accountable.

2 Timothy 3:1-9
1 You should also know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that. 6 They are the kind who work their way into people's homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by many desires. 7 Such women are forever following new teachings, but they never understand the truth. 8 And these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are depraved, and their faith is counterfeit. 9 But they won't get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as happened with Jannes and Jambres.

God Bless You

You and your pastor should be on the same wavelength. Yes, you are there to be taught and for the guidance he gives, but you should be able to understand and accept what he is saying.

If he is teaching something that you find unacceptable or contradicts what you feel is morally wrong, then you need to find another place of worship.

If his teachings are sound but you just don't like them, then you need to examine your heart and conscience and ask yourself why that is. There is only one truth and if your pastor is teaching that, then yes, it matters greatly what he says.

The only truth is in the Word. If a pastor misunderstands or misrepresents the word then you cannot listen to what he says. Pastors are human too and subject to mistakes just like the rest of us.

As a believer we should know if our Pastor is teaching the
Word of God truthfully or not; and the only way we will know is if we are reading the Word of God daily.

Your own truth will not set you free from sin; only God's truth can truely set you free.

Of course it matters. No one who wants the truth would listen to someone who might not tell the truth. I think this is vital. A beloved Pastor told me once 'there is nothing so dangerous as a half truth'. . . think about it, one can mix in a little lie, and if it sounds good mixed in like that, then we think about it, and this leads to destruction!! This is how the cults got started. If one tells us an outright lie we wouldn't think about it at all. GUARD YOUR MIND............good medicine for the Christian !

Diamond,
it matters very much if your pastor knows what he is talking about. If he does not, you need to get out of there.

a pastor who does not know the truth is like a cancer. More the point, if you continue to stay there, you share his guiilt.

Bible says we should ask and seek on our own and not just look to someone else to give us answers....

Even though God has people whom teach His word, it doesn't mean we aren't to "test the spirits" on what they say before we accept it as "Truth"

knowing the truth means you read the Bible for your self & got a different meaning then the minister. if this is so then god gave you your answer & go with it not the minister
