What do I have to do to get ready for this? Cause we want to try to get me with his where ever he is stationed as soon as possible. He is going to ask questions from his side also but i was just wondering if aanyone knows any info on this like how long does the whole process take to get me on all his stuff like the housing and stuff. Any info you think would be helpful is welcome =) Thanks so much

you unfortunately , can do nothing except plan the wedding and hope nothing happens between now and when he graduates that will put his ability to actually SHOW UP to said wedding in jeopardy.

NOTHING can be started untill you are married. Make sure you check with yoru local laws to find out what kind of paperwork is needed, and if there is a waiting period.. for instance, there is a 24 hour waiting period between getting the license and being able to get married in some states.. in others, it's even longer. Some states require you both to show up in person to get the license.

after you are married, HE will have to do all the rest, and that includes showing up to his new command and requesting an ORDMOD, which will give you permission to join him there. If it is OCONUS, you will have to pass an overseas screening before they will let you go over. This can take 6 months or longer.

Housing wait lists will vary from base to base and are based on BR entitlement and paygrade. it can be as short as one day to as long as 2 years.

Housing depends on your first duty station. Some bases the waiting list is very long. Some, you can sign and get your new home that day. I personally would rather live on post then off post. If you have a waiting list, try and find a place off post that rents from month to month. Also, the post will have a list of places that you can rent from and you can not rent from. Good luck. This is a hard but rewarding life. Stick it out and before you know he will be retired! Good luck and congratulations!

as far as housing you will need to get married b4 he can get put on a list for it. he will need to get you enrolled in DEERS and tricare ... but like i said nothing can be done untill you get married. it took me 2 days after i got married to get everything at finiance and medical and an apartment ( not goverment furnished) and extra pay things done
