In being launched from rest it moves through a distance of 87 m and has a KE of 4.5 x 10^7 J at lift off. Waht is the work dsone on the jet by the catapult?

1) KE from the engines alone = force * distance.

2) Total KE is given. Simply subtract the total KE from the number in step 1 to get the catapult eneregy.
