Shifter nob should unscrew off of the stick...if you want to remove the whole stick remove boot and pull pin from the top of the transmission.

haha...if you drive it into the lake, someone else (like me) will come along and drive it back out.

Yep...the knob unscrews in a counter-clockwise direction. They can be pretty tight sometimes. If it doesn't come loose, put a rag over it and turn it with a set of big channel-lock pliers or a pipe wrench.

you dont want a toyota truck of the those years....the 6 bangers need a head job about once a year and the diff tends to go bad....but only on those years...the mid 95 up with the 3.4 engine had no problems like the 3.0s did....
