its def worth it!!!!

- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player

- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)

- online is free for ps3 not like 360

- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring

- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it

- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)

- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p

- built in Wi-Fi

- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)

- rumble returns in spring 2008

- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)

those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this

Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360(premium)- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)

Dont you just hate it when the PS3 fan boys put all this techy stuff on that the PS3 software makers cant even fathom out...!

The PS3 is a great machine, as for playing games and value for money right now it is shocking...!

360 kicks *** for on line and single player gaming, just look at the games available...Halo 3, forza2, pgr2, Dirt, Gears of war, the list goes on just buy a cheap 360 now with these games many of which you can get for less than 25 quid each and it will last you till the PS3 catches up....!

Money wise, you get quite a lot from it (i've just received mine in the mail) a blue ray player, a great gaming experience and cool multiplayer options. But on the other hand it can be annoying as to use ps2 memory cards and controllers you need to buy extra adaptors which do not come with the system. But if you're into gaming i would say yes its worth it. if not just get an x box 360 heheheh

Think about this: for £350 (60GB) or £299 (40GB) you can have perhaps the most powerful games machine today, powered by a chip that is streets ahead of anything inside any PC or any games console. Had you tried to buy one like it 40 years ago, it would have cost you at least £2,000,000. Is it worth it? The real question is: Can you handle it?

well, the ps3 isn't selling well, like the ps2 and ps1 did. the ps1 sold over 100 million consoles, while the ps2 sold over 120 million! the ps3 has barely sold over 5 million consoles. to be honest, all the consoles on the market are overpriced and the leader is the xbox 360 with over 11 million sold. i suggest buying a xbox 360, or wait till next year to buy the ps3.

Yes, it's not only a superb gaming console, it's a very good multimedia center (UPnP Media Server capabilities), it has a decent web browser, Blu-Ray player (standalone Blu-ray player will cost around the same amount of money as PS3). If you'll install Linux (and if you have HDTV) - you got yourself a new computer.

Only if you get a 60 gig unit before they are sold out.

That unit provides nearly 100% compatibility with previous games versus about 80% for the 80 gig and none for the 40 gig.

It also has more memory slots (don't need the adaptor for PS2 cards) and connectivity options -- built-in wifi. It costs Sony more to build and they are discontinuing it.

Snag a 60 gig unit while you can, otherwise wait for proce to come way down.

personally i don't think it is worth it. especailly when you think of the price. i bought a nintedo wii instead because:

OK this may shock you but even the not so good Nintendo gamecube is outselling ps3. Plus where I come from the U.K, the wii is the fastest selling games console EVER! In the U.K Nintendo have just over 66% of the market.
So it makes you think what bit of the market is left for Sony and Microsoft? Well if you split it equally (which isn't going to happen) they would have 17% of the market each and when you compare that to Nintendo’s figures it’s hardly anything. And I don't even think Sony owns 17% of the market because Sony is currently losing the console war by miles.
The wii has brought something new into the consideration, Nintendo don't put all their efforts into fancy graphics, and they focus on: game play experience, making good games, innovation and appealing to none gamers.
game play experience- when you play a game like warioware smoothmoves for the first time it will have you laughing out loud because of its sheer uniqueness and amazing experiences.
Making good games- just look at the vast catalogue of games people have to choose from, many of which are offering completely new experiences like: warioware smoothmoves, wii sports, wii play, super Mario galaxy, super paper Mario, super smash bros, Zelda twilight princess, battalion wars 2, call of duty 3, guitar hero 3, Scarface, Metroid prime hunters, boogie, need for speed, Mario kart wii, red steel 1 and 2, Links crossbow training, resident evil 4, resident evil umbrella chronicles, wii fit, Mario strikers charged football and super monkey ball. You can see there is an amazing choice of brilliant games to choose from.
Innovation- I mean what better innovation is there than the wii itself, it has amazing controls and decent graphics. I don't know if you own a wii yourself or have ever played on one. But the very first time you turn it on and play wii sports the experience that you get is truly amazing. Like when you play tennis for the very first time, when you hit the ball successfully, you smile with glee when you actually realize the fancy controls actually work.
Appealing to none gamers- I play all the games on wii sports with my uncle regularly and he before was completely a none gamer, every time he comes round now he always asks to play on the wii. Plus before my mum never played on games console, she was completely a none-gamer but now she regularly plays on the wii with me.

Not for that price. Get a 360 or wait until next year when they are much cheaper.
Also there are NO good games for the PS3 so far, no matter what the fanboys say.

i would wait till next year when price comes down. on look on ebay maybe some on there already. just remember that if you have ps2 games some of them won't work on ps3. i was asking at game shop couple of weeks ago.
