We play by the Rules (obey the Laws); pay our taxes, voice our concerns- and VOTE, at every opportunity.

Courtesy, Respect. All kinds of things make you a good citizen. If you want to be a better citizen then go pick up some litter. Don't expect to be noticed right away.

Try to improve not only yourself, but the society around you; exercise your rights and obligations as a citizen; vote, if your laws allow, and make it an informed vote; serve on juries if your laws allow, and do so conscientiously; pay your bills and be responsible for yourself at all times; do not complain unless you step forward to make changes for the better of your society; remember that a government is to raise the standard for all members of a society, and allow for not getting everything you might like; be understanding, thoughtful, and compassionate.

A good citizen not only loves his/her country, but has a basic understanding of how the government works. Rules are to be followed, help is to given to those in need, and several other things need to be done: love your neighbor as you love yourself; give unto others as they give unto you; and defend your country with your last dying breath. However, you do have the right to criticize and fight for changes in your laws. And your right to anything stops at your neighbor's nose. In other words be considerate of what you are doing and let it not interfere with the rights of others.

ACCEPT that everyone must carry his own weight is one of the absolutely most important things that make a person a good citizen.
REALIZE that there are consequences for every thing one does. You WILL experience those consequences -- some are serious, but some are also good and rewarding.
STAND UP for liberty. But, that means you must realize that in this country of diversified people, the laws apply to EVERYONE. That means YOU TOO.
VOLUNTARILY help the needy, and don't depend on the governement for a free ride, or assume that "welfare" or the Red Cross will take care of it all. That's part of what's wrong with our economy today.
And, this next is just for your information. And, I hope it makes you as angry as is warranted:
An inmate in a regular - high sec. prison costs the government over $43,000.00 PER YEAR of incarceration.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???
My little great aunt and uncle can't afford to pay their rent, buy groceries, and just forget the medications they NEED. Why?
Because, between them they make about $40.00 "over the limit" to be eligible to receive the aid they need. They are in their late 70's and early 80's. They receive somewhere about $900 -$1,000 per month. Again, I say: WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
They never owned a new home, a new car, or went on big vacations. They always lived conservatively. He worked over 50 years at a blue collar job; she baby sat and did house-cleaning to help put their 2 kids through community college, the other through "beauty school".
HOWEVER, the scuzz a block over, robbed a convenience store and knifed the girl (messed up her face forever). He went to prison for 10 or 15 years, out in 7 (remember, costing tax payers $43,000.00 per year, [he got orthodontic braces while in]). He got out of prison and was back inside in 2 years for selling dope to children -- back in for I don't know how long, but still @ $43,000.00 year out of the taxpayers pocket. ------ But, my little great aunt and uncle can't get help they need and deserve because they make "too much" per month!
Makes me furious. Could ya tell??

A good citizen criticizes their government, doesn't just go with whatever they say, and they contribute and give back to their enviornment.

Well that's a really general question,so I don't know if I'll answer right. For me it's giving back to the community. Volunteering, Helping, not polluting. I'm a bit of a tree-hugger.
