I'm guessing mine would be in the low 40's (MPH). I'm 15 and I use a my mom's 10 speed with the large diameter, thin wheels. It's from the 1980's I think.

Made in Japan too, instead of China, like my other bike that I needn't mention.

Yeah, down a hill obviously. I'm going to assume most of these are.

74 MPH, descending Mt Stroudsburg, in the Poconos, on a tandem.
Man what a ride, my wife was screaming her head off. I was praying that we didn't have a front tire puncture. Everything was blurry.

I'm 16, and have hit 65.5 by myself, using a 53-12 on 23-700c wheels: a road bike with thoes skinny tires. At this speed a crash is very likely lethal, and one should only ever attempt such a speed on a hill you are very very familiar with, and you can be assured of the lack of traffic.

Spin your gears to about 150 RPM, or the poitn where pedaling simply doesnt incease your speed, put your hands on the very top of the bars near the stem, and stick you butt in the air. Sounds silly, but in races I can go faster for longer in that position than someone pedaling.

51 mph for me, coming down that big hill at Discovery Park in Seattle.

My goal is to hit 60 mph, now that I've got a 53x11 gear! (I'll be hitting 60 hopefully out on Tolt Hill Road in Carnation, btw)

Mine would be just about 30 mph. I was going down a pretty good hill and had been riding all summer.

While racing in Wales I maxed out at 64mph on one decent. My fastest on the flat in a sprint though is 41mph and that was with a good tailwind and a great leadout

48.6mph is my fastest! - Although on another occasion, a couple of guys I was riding with was clocking 51-52mph - Dartmoor, Devon. (but my computer failed because of the damp- so I can't confirm)

Downhill of course!

P.S. I will tell tell you something else too! - The road was wet and I don't know if you have 'cattle-grids' where you are, but the whole experience was pretty hairy!!!!

I was in a race in Colorado once and saw 62mph MAX on my cyclo-computer after a long, fast descent. No joke. That's miles per hour! Some other guys in the race claimed they saw 64 on theirs but that's my fastest ever.
