I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately there is no way to criminally punish psychological or emotional abuse...at least not in the state I live in.
A friend of mine has a child who is no more than 4 years old. He came to my friend one day after day care and said "Did you know that if you're bad you will go to Hell and burn forever?" This may seem harmless to those who believe that to be true but I was completely appalled by this small, yet very significant, statement. I would have been outraged for my child to have been told this by a caregiver.

If the family is super stick in what they belive in then maybe they won't allow their kids to do certian things. Using Hell as a way for them to behave is stupid, take a way tv or a toy or something that will work. Personally I think they should be able to pick what religion they want to follow, when they are old enough to make that choice of course.

In a way, I agree with you. I may not agree that "alot of Christians" do that, but I do know a couple familes that have indeed pushed their beliefs so much that all of the children in the family have ended up with some serious problems.

Agreed. It is. But it's not abuse to threaten a man with hell if he doesn't conform to your sexual desires.
Although both cases are psychological terrorism.

I am a christian and I would never threaten my child with hell. Rather I will teach them how much God loves them, and how he has prepared an amazing place just for them.
I agree that telling your children that they will go to hell can be extremely damaging.

In my eyes this is. whilst i became into basically a toddler/small new child, anyone became into telling me that i could circulate to Hell if i did no longer do x, y, and z, it quite is one clarification why I grew to grow to be suicidal at a time, thinking that i could no longer do something ideal. this is quite distressing that little ones are nevertheless informed that. And in case you could desire to i could say, confident, enable or no longer this is criminalized for new child endangerment (in my capture 22 concern) and psychological abuse.

Threaten? What child doesn't want to please their parents? My sons are 'taught the bible and they will not depart from it when they grow older!' Paraphrased from Proverbs.
Proverbs 3:1-2 say
1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.

No, it would would be abusive if you didn't explain the gospel and the plan of salvation and someone you loved died and went to hell. The bible speaks more about hell than heaven, so as to warn people not to go there.

my children came to know Jesus , not because they were afraid of hell, but because they heard about and then experienced His love
