Because it's a convenient way of meeting a lot of my needs with less time investment.
IE i don't have to start from scratch every time i want a hug. i have pre-existing arrangments about where i will get sex. I know where i will sleep every night. The relationship frees me up to pursue what I want in life without spending all my time trying to find love/affection, etc. Now it does take a significant investment, but not as much time as looking for a new parner every time.

It used to be because I was lonely and felt like I needed someone to "complete" me. Now that I'm older and have been hurt a few times, I realize that I want a relationship because I want a best friend to go through life with. Not someone who completes me - that's my job to figure out on my own. Just someone who will hold my hand while I do.

Well I have been single for almost 2 years now. I have settled into my job, worked out my home life and custody of my daughter, and I am ready to start dating again.

It's nice to feel loved, you're protected and have someone to be with and help you.
Or you might want to get married, start a family together.

Because the person can add something to you..that you do not posess. and if/when you go separate ways. you are a better person for the experience!
