He has a bell at his desk (like a hotel lobby bell) that he rings each time he gets a form that an agent has been relived of duties in his company...

It came up in a meeting today because the executives want to know good turnover vs. bad turnover numbers (meaning if they got a better job in the company or if they were left or fired from the company).. Boss woman stated we need to keep track of the good vs bad & a big argument came up concerning how to decide.

He broke it down it terms of how he rings the bell --------- and what a hit it was. He told them he ONLY rings the bell when they are leaving the company (under the assumption they are fired) and refuses to ring it if they are promoted elsewhere in the company.

Next thing we know the boss woman is explaining how we should record these occurrences in the terms of how he rings the bell.

He failed to mention in the meeting how he sits back with a smirk and says "another one bites the dust".

What do u think of this

Okay, let's see...

You have a staff of people (the numbers are unclear) who, at the behest of their boss, record the ringings of a bell, being rung by a nasty little sadist, whenever someone is fired from the company. And the executives, after much deliberation, consider this an effective and efficient method of tabulating the turnover of the staff.

And you want to know what I think.

I hope I don't own stock in this company.
I hope no one I love works for this company.
I hope 20/20 hears about this company.

Train a nanny cam on the bell ringer and send the video to the Board of Directors.

Ahhh, American Business Management. And people wonder why Toyota is selling more cars than the big three, why debt is skyrocketing and why jobs are moving offshore.

What do they hope to gather by tracking this turnover? Are they hoping to explain why so many people are leaving the company?

This guy sounds like an A S S and the company is losing experienced work staff and employees.

I would suggest that you try and find a new job as quickly as possible. Then you can ring the bell on you way out the door.

This really tells me that the company isn't worth working for, especially if so many people get fired that some idiot comes up with such an idea to ring a bell. Just tell your bosses that that is deffinately a BAD turnover. How often does it actually get rung?

Ahhh, American business enterprise administration. and individuals ask your self why Toyota is advertising greater autos than the huge 3, why debt is skyrocketing and why jobs are shifting offshore. What do they desire to collect by potential of monitoring this turnover? Are they hoping to describe why maximum of people are leaving the business enterprise? This guy feels like an A S S and the business enterprise is dropping experienced paintings workforce and workers. i could propose which you attempt and detect a sparkling activity as immediately as accessible. then you definately can ring the bell on you way out the door.

Are you working with human beings or chimps? Seriously, I would polish up the resume and start looking elsewhere; this is not only sadism of the highest order it is sheer lunacy. Lunacy to the point it is scary...I could never work with people like that!
And when you get another job and are on your way out of this asylum, get a big bell, ring it loudly on your way to the door and yell "Hear ye, hear ye! I quit this lunatic asylum!"
Then leave. DO NOT GIVE NOTICE!!

I am a somewhat quiet person at the office. But in this case I would buy a bell and start ringing it saying "I quit!".

Alright, probably not. But it sounds great. Any company that likes to lose people isn't for the people. I would recommend quiting and soon.

Ive never heard of anything so stupid...

You work in an office of ADULTS, no??

I would expect to be treated with respect whether I was on my way out the door or not.

And I'd take that bell and throw it out while he was watching. Or shove it somewhere where he can't watch.
