According to a Mayan prophecy just before Columbus's arrival to America, "a white skinned gods come from the sea and they will end our civilization" was predicted.

How is this possible? Was it just a pure coincidence, or does the Mayan prophecy really have some sort of supernatural foreseeing?

Historychannel show. The name of the show was "the Great Conquerers; Cortez" and at the opening statement, the narrator says, "... the Mayans were nervous, because they saw a commet falling to the earth, and their shaman foretold 'white-skin colored gods will come from the sea and they will end our civilization'".

Have you ever thought of questioning the prophecy?

Where was it recorded so that we know that it was actually a prophecy before the arrival of the Spaniards and other European colonists?

How do we know that it was not something a priest made up after the arrival of the Europeans to try to get the people to resist them more?

How do we know that this is not something that was just made up to tell an interesting story centuries after the fall of the Mayans?

ADDED:
You base this stuff on what you saw on the History Channel? They also have stuff about ghosts and UFOs. In the show, did they say how this was documented? Was there a Mayan scribe writing down everything that the shaman said? How did we find out that this is what the shaman said. This all relates back to how do you verify that this prophecy was actually made before the Mayans knew of the Spanish. What Mayan records show that this was said? It still makes more sense that this is either a story or some form of Mayan propoganda designed to get the Mayans to resist the Spanish invaders and not a prophecy.

The Mayans didn't expect that to happen till 2012. So it wasn't as precise as you think. They were expecting a specific white-skinned god to end it. You should read up on their religion. It is interesting, but the prophecies given were not precise. Like most prophecies, they're generalized

Did the prophecy come true? Where have I been the last 1000 years? Oh, and Jesus folded on a pair of pocket Kings... total bluff.

You're operating under at least one false premise, namely that the Mayans predicted a white god would come from the see and end their civilization.

Sources please.

if they predicted the end of their civilisation why were they so stupid as to create a calendar for themselves that lasted until 2012 when they knew they wouldn't be around to use it?

Ever heard of the "dragon?"
Job.2:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
