There is NO weakness in attempting to follow Christ! That is for sure. Those that claim Christianity is a "crutch" or it is for the "weak-minded" have NEVER tried to become a Christian. (People fear that which they do not attempt to understand)
That is why Scripture Itself declares that the road to Heaven is Narrow, and FEW there are that FIND it (or stay on the path!) Yet Broad is the way that leads to Eternal Destruction, and MANY there be upon that road!

The above responder, Brent is saying he is NOT thinking very rationally.
He states:
" A baboon can believe, a dog can have faith, but only a human being - or some animals who demonstrate near-human levels - can reason."
What makes him THINK? that a baboon can "believe" anything? or that dogs have "faith"? or that any animals can demonstrate "reasoning abilities"? Unless somehow he has become "Dr. Doolittle"? Mankind is the only "reasoning self-aware being on this planet. It is "reasoning" such as this that makes people (that do research information) wonder how they (ppl such as Brent here) concider themselves rational in the first place. DO your HOMEWORK! Historical, scientific, and logical references are readily available to PROVE beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Biblical writings are TRUE! When you actually take the time to LOOK it UP!!
(Even Albert Einstein KNEW there was a God!..and he was by far....NOT a "weak minded person"!

2 Cor. 12:7-10
To keep from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of satan, to torment me. (8) Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. (9) But He said to me "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me. (10) That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I'm weak, then I am strong.
Paul's thorn could suggest physical ailment or some may suggest to interpret it as a spiritual temptation or constant opposition. Regardless, Paul stresses that God permitted the thorn to continue, dispite his prayers of relief, to teach him an important lesson about grace and dependence to God. Totally submitting to God's will.

the word weak, should really be meek- meek means humility with boldness. It is hard to live the Christian life. If someone calls you weak for believing say- HALLELUJAH- remember Paul said in his weakness God is strong. It is not by might, or by power, but by His Spirit. AMEN!!

Because you have to have some one else tell you what is right or wrong. You are too weak to think for yourselves. Since you think you will go to heaven if you follow the bible and the bible says you need to go out and convert people or you can't get into heaven then you have proselytize. That is not strength, that is bowing to some one elses will not your own.

Christians are weak THINKERS. No one is saying they can't be stubbornly insistent on believing in things with no proof - but that doesn't take any thinking or reasoning skill. A baboon can believe, a dog can have faith, but only a human being - or some animals who demonstrate near-human levels - can reason.
Everything you've described as "strong" is perfectly consistent with the behavior of a two-year-old. Religious faith requires no higher-level thinking skills, thus it is more suited to the weak-minded than facing reality.

Corinna.... WAY TO GO! LOL...was just thinking this seconds before I saw your question! :)
Am also thinking about all the people through the years whom have told me "you are stronger then I am, I can't do it, will you do it FOR ME?"
God bless you! :)
***...see that Brent Y STILL thinks that Christians cannot think for themselves..... some things do not change :)
LOL Brent...I have been accused of "thinking TOO MUCH", but have NEVER been accused of not thinking at all! (ummm...ok, when young I sometimes acted without thinking... forgive me, it happens) :)

For those of you who say weak and lazy, I say you obviously have not seen a motorcycle ministry while at work and at play. Weak and Lazy are not two words I would use to describe them. Half of the time, when they get to church they are still covered in oil and grease from work.
Leather chaps and boots are my church clothes!

It is like a kid who says what his mother cooked for supper is gross before he tries it.
It is easy to be critical when you have absolutely no real data with which to evaluate. That is what they do.
As those of us who are believers know, it is impossible to see beyond the door of faith, you must step through to understand.
edit-- In any case, if one must be weak to accept God than so be it. I would rather be weak in the eyes of the world than to stand shaking my puny little fists at almighty God.
As the Lord told Paul, His strength is made perfect in our weakness...

Christians should be meek. Power under control but it is hard.
Weak, i'm weak when I am not in the Word and prayer. ANd then it means easily bothered because i am not filled with His Power.

I imagine life would appear easier if I believed there was a cosmic purpose to everything and an omnipotent entity who supported me. But I know that for me, it is too hard to ignore reason and rationality.
