I am wondering how it it because I am getting mine out very soon.
Also, the dentist says to not drink or eat after midnight the night before, unless it is for meds. So, can I , should I brush my teeth the morning of? Also, I know it varies with person to person, but over all, how long was it before you could eat solid foods, and what were some of the foods that got you by? Thanks.

I already know why I can't eat or drink.
That's not what I was asking.

You are not to eat or drink the night before because you are going under general anesthesia. Yes, brush your teeth the morning of, just don't swallow any water.

It took about a week until I got my stitches out and could go totally back on solid food. If your teeth are impacted, they will have to cut them out and stitch you up.

I got by mostly on yogurt, pudding and jello, and lots of juices and fluids. You won't feel much like eating the first day, as the anesthesia can make you a little nauseated, also if you swallow some blood that can upset your stomach.

I didn't swell up or anything though, it was really pretty easy, and the pain pills kept me out of pain for the duration until I healed.
Good luck.

do your best not to eat or drink anything. Brushing your teeth will be fine. Depending on whether your teeth are pulled or cut out is the differnce I believe in eating solid foods. I had all four of mine pulled and that night I ate puddings and softer things like mashed potatoes and soup. By the next afternoon I was eating easy to chew solid food. I know everyone is different, I am not saying this is ok, but I know I went out drinking the night I had the surgery, feeling fine, just a little swollen. I was lucky though. Not so lucky during the surgery when I woke up and felt the roots snapping as the dentist pulled the tooth out. EWWW, that was gross!!!

yes you can brush your teeth - I did. Check with your dentist to be 100% sure.

If you having a general anasthetic, then don't eat/drink beforehand

I had 4 wisdoms out (with very long roots)
I had a local so was awake - no pain, but you can feel the dentist pulling your teeth - no problem though

Afterwards, it's important to follow dentists advice - I wasn't allowed a hot drink for several hours

My swelling went down really quickly (6 hours after!) and I was eating soft food the next day.

Don't worry, it's really not that bad!

Had mine removed with just a local. The oral surgeon never said anything about not eating/drinking.
No pain/problems.
You can hear the teeth crunch and crack as he removes them.
You should be able to eat solid foods the next day after the bleeding has stopped.

I had one out last year under anaesthetic, so was put to sleep. I was dreading it cause my sister didnt stop throwing up for hours after and her face was really swollen. She didnt have the anti sickness drug where I did. I felt ok after mine jus tired and groggy from the anaesthetic. Nothing to worry about I cant remember eating after it that day cause I went to bed all night but you'll be ok to brush your teeth just dont swallow anything! Just follow their advice. P.S Dont even have chewing gum because the stomach thinks you have eaten so dangerous under anaesthetic! You should be ok to eat the next day just have to find that out when the time comes!

It depends if you are going to be put to sleep or have you whole mouth numb. I decided to be put to sleep because you wont feel anything. I think it will be okay for you to brush your teeth. It took me a week till i could eat solid foods. I ate jello, ice cream, soup, mashed potatoes. Basically anything soft.
